Lloydy just said on TFS no idea how Cox hasn’t been nominated for rising star
Has to be this week. And is also his tip to win it.
Perkins might be his main competition if keeps trending how he is.

Perkins, Cox and Jones have all been among the most consistent young players all season, none of them have had the fluctuations in form you’d expect from 1st year players
Yep, they have all played consistent, solid games without the one statistically outstanding game that seems to get you a nomination
Perkins and Jones were abit better than him this week.
perk will get it this week

Nik Cox will win Rising Star Award, Matthew Lloyd predicts, despite nomination snub
By Tim Elbra - 1 hour ago
Essendon have moved into the AFL’s top eight after a come from behind win over West Coast.
Essendon’s Nik Cox will win the Rising Star Award despite a baffling nomination snub through the first 10 rounds of the season, Bombers legend Matthew Lloyd says.
Cox, the 200cm No.8 draft pick, was again impressive as Essendon beat West Coast on Saturday night; a win that pushed the Bombers into the top eight.
He may finally get a Rising Star nod after the outing and Lloyd reckons he may well win the rookie gong.
“I think it’s amazing that at Round 11 … I think he’s the best player of the season in terms of all these names, [yet] has still not been nominated,” Lloyd said on The Sunday Footy Show.
"I think he wins it. I think [Errol] Gulden and [Braeden] Campbell and [Chad] Warner, the first three, they’ve dropped off. [Lachie] Sholl he’s got covered.
"I know Luke Jackson may be a star but he’s had a better season than him. Harrison Jones [also].
“It’s amazing … he has to get it and I still think he’d be my favourite to win it.”
RISING STAR NOMINEES SO FAR
R1: Errol Gulden (Sydney)
R2: Braeden Campbell (Sydney)
R3: Chad Warner (Sydney)
R4: Lachie Sholl (Adelaide)
R5: Mitch Georgiades (Port Adelaide)
R6: Jacob Koschitzke (Hawthorn)
R7: Luke Jackson (Melbourne)
R8: James Jordon (Melbourne)
R9: Tom Green (GWS)
R10: Cody Weightman (Western Bulldogs)
So impressed that these 3 are level headed and not intimidated by anyone. They all work hard with and without the ball and look to play their roles throughout the game. Even when they’ve made mistakes or started quietly. A great start to their careers.
Nah mate. Currently, he needs to be assessed like any first year player. To which he rates very very well.
But going forwards, he absolutely will be a high volume player. Any player on the wing with his aerobic capacity should be. Give him a couple of years and he will be racking them up as per Gaff/Whitfield and the like.
I think their consistency has been impressive
They’re all, obviously, not physically able to impact every quarter.
But they all keep buttering up and keep trying, they’ve all done something every week.
Quite baffling really Cox been consistent all season compared to those on the list and still hasn’t been nominated
Should have got the nom against Sydney
Tom Green is putting together a pretty decent season out of that lot.
See, that’s the problem though.
Gaff and Whitfield have been high volume possession players even through their junior football career and that has continued in AFL.
Cox hasn’t shown the ability to reach those levels of volume on a consistent basis.
If we’re expecting him to be Gaff or Whitfield like, then we’ll be disappointed when he doesn’t make it.
I think he’ll be more in the Brad Hill mould but more damaging.
People get way too riled up about the Rising Star nom thing. First, who cares. Second, the AFL is an organisation singularly focused on optics - there is nothing in the world surer than one of the favourites to win the thing eventually getting a nom.
Green and Jackson 1 & 2 in my opinion.
Jackson’s freakishness has been under appreciated.
Agree that Green should be the favourite at this stage.
On the other hand, I haven’t seen anything exceptional from Jackson this season output-wise to agree.
Cox has been far more impactful
I’d have Cox ahead of Jackson but yeah, Green would be my tip so far.

I take it as a personal affront that no Essendon player has been nominated.
Cox into outright second favorite. Most likely on the back of Lloyd’s comments.
Yep.
I think all 3 deserve a nomination, but I think everyone who’s got the nomination in their particular week has deserved it.
How much do we care, really?
I’m not convinced he is even the most likely winner at his own club.
