Just hope this guy has the drive and professionalism to be the best he can be otherwise it’s another Dodoro miss.
Good to watch that and remember how lively he was.
He can play, club is building him up properly, it’s good to see.
No, that’s not how you do it! You need to be spending your panic dollars at an alarming rate, declare him a bust and ■■■■ him off.
when you include the covid affected years…it’s a pretty grim story.
fast moving from the ‘highly likely’ into the ‘fingers crossed’ category….
Tsastas almost in that boat too.
Would’ve miss 16th and 17th year coz of covid.
Most of 18th coz of injury.
Now most of 19th (first year in AFL system) due to knee.
His Dad played for seven seasons and managed only 30 games due to injuries.
I thought he was going to be a gun as well, but Fate had other ideas.
it would be a rare player that can essentially play only a handful of games over a 5 year period and still reach their full potential.
I hope he’s the one that proves the exception to the rule.
Just a question-how does Joe appear more durable at Brisbane (besides his shoulder)?
He moved away from Sean Murphy
Joe played 95 of 97 games from round 1 2014 to round 7 2018.
He’s as durable for Brisbane as he was at Essendon after we sent him to Ireland to get his groin issue properly fixed.
He played 20 and then 21 games in his second and third years. He missed 2 years after he had played 50+ games and had proved himself. I don’t see the comparison.
They’ll get him right eventually and then they will spend the next 3 seasons trying to figure out where to play him.
Tsatas plays more footy in 1 Qtr than people play in half a season. He’ll be fine.
Has he been sighted, is he alive?
as opposed to applying “he’s highly rated and a top ten pick we should give him 8 years to prove himsef” ?
If he wasn’t a top ten pick, and in say 18 months is still in no better position, or just looks to be generally a bust if he does make it out on the ground, even at VFL level, do you think they should be keeping him “just cos” in his first year he was running around with the freedom and no expectation pressure and looked good for 14 odd weeks ?
lets not forget granted neither played AFL but we just got rid of 2 talls after drafting them on the premise of “building our spine for the next decade” when they were believed to not be up to it, so in reality if you can see a player isn’t up to it, is it wise management to give them way longer to develop just cos of their draft number/position ?
or a 14 game block ?
I mean i hope he makes it, but this has been the problem with essendon, it’s been a charity case for coulda, shoulda might have been players cos they fit the nice guy mould and showed glimpses here or there.
The original post was that we should cut him loose. He is 21, it hasn’t been 8 years it has been 3.
In 18 months time if he hasn’t played another game then the discussion may be had, but that wasn’t what I was responding to.
Also, yes top 10 picks are treated differently as they have a greater reward if it comes off (and we have witnessed what he can do). That’s why they are top ten picks.
Interesting take. I like it. More glass half full than empty. Lots of our young kids are injured. Maybe they can get past their injuries and come good. It’s not a notion blitzers (myself included) are accustomed to.
This club really has done a number on it’s fan base.
It has. And that’s why there is so much mistrust about what the club is doing. With injuries, how can you be sure the club is doing things right. Guelfi plays one quarter of the game against the Suns, then not named at all for the Saints game. Soreness? Wanting to give him a full match in the VFL? Nah, high grade hammy, 6-8 weeks.
