Iāll be interested to see where Scott decides to play him next year when heās back. Word going around he was set to become a defender which I was in favour of. Or do we move him back to the wings or move him up forward?
it would be the essington thing to do, draft a tall midfielder and try and turn him into a back.
not sure having potentially two 200 plus centimeter stick defenders would be a great way to go, not exactly sure who theyād be pushing out of the side either unless they exponentially took off next year.
If he plays back it would need to be as a Tall HBF. Which might actually be his spot considering Durham and Martin have the wings locked down with the occasional chop out from Langford
Yeah but heās gonna have to earn his spot first and the two incumbents are big reasons why weāve performed so well this season. He also hasnāt played a lot of footy in that wing spot yet so he might be better served playing his first few years behind the ball and learning how the game flows.
As a 200cm player heāll be a late bloomer, even before injuries, I wouldnāt expect him to be constantly contributing until he is in his mid/late 20s
Yes but my post was expressed in the vernacular of this forum. People here often claim someone or other is the ābest everā. Someone even wondered if Bewick jnr could be the best ever and he is at least 5 years off playing!
Why does he have the potential?
The Wing is an incredibly instinctive position, to know when to keep space, to know when to cut in, to know when to run forward or backā¦.
Just because heās tall and can run doesnāt mean he has the smarts to do it. In fact Iād argue if heās not already locked in as a wingman heās not going to be one.
He also needs to toughen up a bit if heās playing wing as heāll be asked to drop back into the hole a lot.
As good as his first season was, he had far too many pairs of brown shorts at the end of games to sustain.
