He is a crazy asset to have for coaches. Can plug holes almost anywhere on the ground.
I liked him chopping out Draper too.
Iām not sure Iād want him doing it for centre bounces yet, for a couple of reasons, but around the ground certainly.
He was great in ruck, was very impressed. Todd goldstein should not be allowed back in the team we have plenty of cover here with wright and cox.
I said a few weeks ago Iād like to see him spend some time in the ruck, remembering how well he played in that position in a game against the Swans at the SCG in his first season. What he did in the ruck last night was pretty impressive, I reckon, and what you said about his follow-up is spot on; not many rucks will have the running power and mobility to go with him. I think what we saw from him last night, as well as from Draper and Wright, should mean that Goldstein is now a back-up only.
With a methodical strength and size build up to continue, I think he could really be our version of Blicavs. The ability to play anywhere and be a genuine relief ruck gives us so much flexibility with team selection.
Loving his progress this year.
Doesnāt have the build to be a Blicavs and never will. Heās a slim build. Blicavs is solid from top to toe.
No doubt he has narrower shoulders but heās certainly putting on the requisite size to play that role. And given his injuries heās probably on a slower burn in terms of adding size.
I wouldnāt be surprised to see him heavy enough to match Blicavs in the next year or two.
The problem is that with this insane policy of not publishing weights to avoid āfat shamingā, we wonāt know.
Been really good this year. How we have 2 wings playing at around 200cm is a great asset. Youāve gotta surround that height with some good speed though for it to work, which was a better balance last night.
Anyone calling for Cox to dropped is a testa di minchia
Yes he did well in the ruck last night, but donāt know if heāll be able to do it consistently. Particularly against bigger more physical opponents. That being said, as another option that helps maximise 2MPās time as a forward itās well worth persevering with.
Well, if we go with the one ruck again next week, then he would go up against Van Rooyen who is only 193cm. The following week against Adelaide would be a struggle as Thilthorpe will be back by then.
the players say cox is stronger than he looks plus he isnt a lightweight anymore. will only get stronger
Similar to Jones, itās just a dead set ā ā ā ā ā ā ā relief that the kid is getting continuity. Now if we could on keep Reid and Parish on the parkā¦.
Non lo so?
2 year extension coming up says cal
Bravo
Heās getting taller!? Can he extend any more!?
Excellent point, heās the most midfieldery of anyone we would consider using as a ruck.
Is he heavy and strong enough to adequately compete against an established ruck? If he getās ragdolled, his midfield capabilities are negated. If he holds his own, profit.
I have a bit of a problem with Wright staying 100% forward. He just canāt be counted on for those 3 or 4 goals to be the centre of attention.
When Wright is rucking, & Draper is resting on the bench or up forward it changes the dynamics of our forward line a lot & that should be harder for the opposition defenders to cope with. I reckon thats a good thing.
Yes Cox 3rd ruck sometimes & both Draper and Wright forward, & then even both benched at the same time ā¦ā¦ change the mix continually up forward & watch Jones, Cox, Draper & Caddy start chipping in with goals, and Stringer & Langford doing their thing as wellā¦but better with 2MP not hogging all the incoming ball.
We donāt need to be super reliant on 2MP like in the past, he has not stepped up when we have needed him to, so we make him our 2nd ruck & let the others step up, which they are all capable of. And when 2MP is forward & kicks his 2 goals ⦠bonus
