#13 - Nik Cox - thru 2026 (Part 2)

I could get on board with this.

I have no faith that the club or Brad will do that, they have committed to Fiorini, prematurely thrown him In the leadership group and will prioritise him over younger players with more scope and ability.

At best, we could ask Fiorini to captain our Vfl team for the next few years.

Brad does love Nik though, brings him back at every opportunity when hes fit.

Personally I haven’t seen the endurance levels and running capacity from Cox since his first year. In his first pre-season he won the clubs time trials and ran serious km in his games. I haven’t seen that since, he has some fair excuses but point is I haven’t seen that same work rate I saw in his first year since. He needs to get that back before being put on the wing in the AFL

Agree. His running levels compared to Ethan Read are night and day. He was definitely decent aerobically as an 18 year old and maybe 12-18 months into the AFL system but yeah, nah. He’s not a jot on Read who at 202cm, just a few months back beat home renowned fitness beasts like Touk Miller and Noah Anderson. Nik Cox has basically been a part time athlete for much of the last year or so and he looks to be carrying some condition.

With May a likely out, I expect he’ll come in. Hopefully he can provide some ruck relief too.

Good to see him back.

Hopefully he’s played up forward. It’s his best chance of getting a role in this team.

Good luck to him, by all accounts he’s been playing well in the VFL

In a season as miserable as this, Nik Cox returning to senior footy is a wonderful story. I don’t know if he will ever live up to the hype of his debut season but frankly that doesn’t matter.

Well done young man and good luck on your comeback

If we drop McKay, I definitely think we should consider inserting cox at the rear.

Cox should be in the rear or right in front Id say

But if May is out, there will be a hole in the forward line.

So maybe we should also consider inserting Cox in the hole.
