I was one who said earlier on (after the Port game?) that we should put him in for surgery.
No real point in doing that now, and there were some genuine signs against Freo that his sure hands and nous might assist at key moments in a Final.
If I’m picking between Fanta, Begley or Baguley for next Thursday, I’ll go Fanta.
If the pick was between him and LAV, I’m probably going LAV, even though they’re different.
Said on the Don Air podcast that he had been nursing some hip pain but has now successfully trained this week and is expected to fully train the next 2 weeks leading in to the finals.
Ping: @Eastie_Boi1 and others with some expertise.
Any idea of what the hip condition might be. Seems a bit strange to me - hips are a genuine ball joint and usually good until bone deteriorates. Not like knees, ankles and shoulders where there are lots of soft tissues holding it all together.
There is always a chance it is not hip at all of course.
A labral tear as per Aceman’s comment would fit the picture pretty well.
Potentially rupture to the ligament of the head of the femur (though iirc that normally occurs with a labrum tear).
The only other thing would be some sort of recurring glute tendon issue but it seems more unlikely given he hasn’t responded all that well to a rest and reload approach.
