#13 Orazio Fantasia - his surname is pronounced “injured”

Can’t remember if it’s been mentioned before but what’s the recovery time for his surgery? Will he be ready to go for pre-season?

Not after we factor in the obligatory rest period to see if it comes good, then put him into surgery in February.

@acemen suggested he’d get close to a full pre-season

“close to”

because playing our stars because we’ve fallen into the finals yet again is more important than hitting the ground running next season

I’d only probably go with Baguley, Begley, Mynott, Houlihan, Long or Myers.

No-one else though.

He’s been cooked for 3 months and literally useless. What’s to suggest Thursday week will be any different?

2 weeks off resting

hasn’t made a difference before

On Don Air podcast, said he has been good enough to train the past week which is good signs,
I thought he showed some signs against Freo he might be helpful.

Arguable if he would be better than Begley though, both capable of a couple of goals.
A fully fit Raz would be capable of 3-4

Hampered Raz is still better than fit Begley

I am not as convinced as you are of that.

Against the Pies I thought our run and spread was as good as I have seen for quite some time.

That was partly due to Walla being used more in the middle of the ground but some of that would be put down to not carrying injured players like Raz and Hooker.

This was the total sprint efforts for the game.

I doubt we would have been in front often this year.

Jok would have a significant impact to those sprint numbers.

Yep, he was our number 1.

I would prefer fully fir B graders rather than hampered A graders.

The game is all about running and creating space.

This is why I want Ham in the team against WC, even though he’s a twig and will be targeted.

Our club will never learn when it comes to playing obviously injured players.

Yes, it will be up to Fantasia, but the coach must ask him if he can contribute at something close to 100%, otherwise we are giving WC a leg up. Laverde played well last week so would prefer him in the team compared to an 80% Fanta, he can pressure and provide attack. Ham was also pretty good back against Freo over there, so he’d be a Zaka replacement. Going to be interesting who misses. No carrying injured or underdone players.

Do you think this is at all realistic?

I know they after Raz & we’ve previously been after Wines. Both contracted still for a few years.

I’d rather both. Love Raz. Fark Port.

I find this talk hard to read because we all know as Essendon supporters that when he is uninhibited by injury, Orazio is genuinely capable of being the best high half forward in the competition. He’s an absolute star. A matchwinner.

I get that there comes a point where you ask yourself whether you can ‘fix him’ or not.

Gee I miss seeing him slice open opposition teams. I hope he gets his body right this off season and gives us AT LEAST a year of his absolute best. Because if he does, it probably means we have team success and therefore he’s a big chance to re-commit. If he doesn’t, well he has at least reinforced how great a player he is and we get compensated fairly.

Now you’ve gone and done it.
