#13 Orazio Fantasia - his surname is pronounced “injured”

Employing the Ryder method.

If that is true, and i’m not just saying this cause it’s us (rumor was it happened with Judas too), but for all clubs benefit they really need to overhaul the salary cap/payment rules. Or clubs need to draft up better contracts. They are too far skewed towards the players, just like FA.

Front load the contract by all means, but guarantee the average only, if they leave early, the player pays it back or the new club does. Plenty of other sports do something similar to this.

It would be a catastrophe and seriously call into question the strategy of trading out of the draft in recent years

Gee how grim… What can we expect back via trade? His value would have taken a bit of a hit this year I would have thought

Agree. The players shouldn’t be allowed to get away with that salary manipulation, it’s tantamount to salary cap rorting. Surely the afl would be all over it.

The players are calling the shots these days.

Burnt down by who??

I’m comfortable with both leaving, Fantasia seems to find himself cooked when we need him most.

Move him on and try find players we can rely on.

I know, doesn’t mean it is not BS, needs to be fairer overall.

The AFLPA would absolutely never go for that. The clubs need the ability to trade players without their consent. The players wield far too much power now that free agency exists.

Honestly, the only bloke I would have been upset if we lost was Walla. As soon as he re-signed, I became more or less indifferent to who was leaving.

I remember the denial stage my old friend

Its a absolute nightmare. Wait till you hit the anger stage

Exactly.

It could actually see us improve relative to who we can then bring back in again.

Perennially injured Raz is not helping us win more games than if him going gets us a gun inside mid who plays 22 games for example.

We’re losing a player who contributed in about 2 of our 12 wins this season.

Boo fkn who.

They might think they are, but he’s contracted to the club for 2 more years. But the club can simply say ‘no, you have a contract’.

Might cause him to have a hissy fit, but he’ll get over it by next season and hey if he wants to sit out 2 years of footy and waste his career, thats pretty pretty dumb.

We need to improve on 12 wins though

You know he’ll kick 50 next year and JOE will be finger twirling at the SCG

Can someone post the article please.

Or don’t front load contracts. It’s an obvious risk.

Not so sure, players leaving before their contracts hav expired is becoming a thing.
