If we had ready made replacements for Rids I’d be OK to say sayonora and get what we could. But we haven’t.. or at least reliable ones given Hayes, Reid and McKay are all crocked and their recovery is, well who knows. Blaki as game and willing as he is, has a bit more to do and prove back there (assuming he gets another year ). Lav of course is heading up the Hume to GWS as I write. And so, up back we’re looking pretty ■■■■■ already.
We really can’t just let Jordan Ridley go at this low point in our so called rebuild imao. We need a rough spine to work with and help the kids come on going forward, and he’s part of it.
He may not like it, but I’d hold him to at least next year and have the conversation again then. We’re changing the S&C .. def some new exciting draftees will enter the stadium and when you think about it, once Draper and those we let go are out, injuries aside we might just improve next year.
And then let’s sit Jordan Ridley down only then, and decide if it’s here or still up north he wants to be.
Quietly wondering if we can do a deal with Ridley.
Play for us next year, let’s modify your contract so that it ends in 2026, then you can walk as a RFA and get us band 1 compensation which at this rate will be pick #2
Tsatas to North, Hobbs and Parish to WCE, second rounders to GC for their pick, Ridley pick/compo, Draper compo and Merrett picks. Let make it real and get nearly the entire top 10.
What came first, the Draper or the Merrett or the Ridley? But all 3 could have been inspired by one another to think about it, could definitely have a domino effect in a rabble of a club to consider moving.
In some ways it helps us. If Lions are serious about getting Ridley, they’d be well advised to make absolutely sure we get first round compensation for Draper.
