#15 Jayden Laverde - π‹π’π―πžπ“›π“ͺ𝓾𝓰𝓱 𝕃𝔸𝕍 (Part 1)

Jayden is taller and heavier than Jack Darling. Was surprised tbh

Taller, not heavier

Just went on googled numbers.

Fair enough. AFL app is saying Lav is 91 and Darling is 95 which sounds about right

If Darling is 87 kilos then he is made predominantly of Styrofoam.

Re: Lav vs Darling

West Coast were super impressed by Laverdes job on Darling.

I received feedback on how big and powerful he was and that he seemed noticeably bigger. West Coast seriously rate Darling as an elite level athlete when it comes to power so that gives some insight into how they perceive Laverde athletically.

I let them know Laverde had been that good all year and that he destroyed Darling :joy:

He’s found his place.

He’s a big, tough unit.

Been immense for us this year. Full credit to LAV and the coaching staff.

Laverde making it all the way to the bye is brilliant.

The way he road the knocks was inspiring. A statement of newfound durability.

He was a consistent contributor in every game but the Darling game was his statement of top-flight ability.

Laverde’s emergence in defence is one of the most deeply satisfying stories of this year…and there are a few good ones.

Yep. Laverde, Parish, Hind and Wright are really good stories for the club and I am sure personally satisfying for them.

He positively dismissive of Darling in the last quarter.

It would be nice to add Francis to that mix. He’s been a regular which is a very positive change in itself. Hopefully we see him back soon and he continues to build on that simple foundation.

Agree wholeheartedly. I didn’t leave Francis, Redman, or Snelling out as deliberate omissions, just that I think the players I mentioned have either become locks in the 22 or vastly exceeded expectations.

It is pretty clear that there are multiple layers of improvement going on at the club.

The players already mentioned are becoming vital best 22 players now, and in Parish and Hind actually comp-wide level recognised. But there is a group that is on the verge if all goes right from here. Draper and Caldwell can consolidate themselves as good or better players. I put Francis, Snelling and Redman into that category. Clearly talented and could easily establish themselves as locks in the best 22, but still need to build the consistency in their game to concrete that in.

Then there’s the young and very talented brigade of Cox, Jones, Reid, Perk, Bryan, and (yes) Mozzie that could be huge if their development follows what we have seen so far.

Good times ahead it feels…

If he was 3 or 4cm taller and not injury-prone, he’d be one of the best key forwards, imo. His power and strength are evidently elite. I still remember how he treated his opponents like a rag doll in the VFL when he was playing forward.

Yeah fair call.

During his draft year a club I know quite well actually looked at him very very closely…as a midfielder…and determined he didn’t have the tank to build a career in the midfield.

He’s found his spot.

I’m telling you, the Lav deserves his own Gumby style streak thread.

LAV going to smash that pelican Wingard

Had a pretty dirty day today. Probably his worst performance all season.

Tainted LAV.

It’s good when that happens and we still win. He’ll bounce back next week
