#16 Josh “Fridge” Begley

Can kick with both feet - Some will argue he needs to focus and be elite with one foot.

Yeah, like the club. What would they know?

You should drop Woosha a line and let him know that it’s better to be elite on both sides than on it is on one. It will blow his mind.

....then the other....

He is certainly a strong unit, I have not seen him in action but with some of the descriptions I am thinking Stewie Dew type player?

The club that’s won a final since when?

All Woosha’s fault of course.

Exactly - When you can’t tell which is a player’s natural foot it can only be a good sign - To what level your kicking is at this point in time is another matter - Though usually if you kick equally well off both sides you are usually a good kick.

When you can’t tell what is a players natural foot, that usually indicates they are a good kick - Of course that doesn’t automatically mean they are or can be an elite kick - But if you are good on both sides, there is nothing to say you can’t be elite or aim to be elite on both sides.

I am more interested to see who is the better kick Mutch or Begley as the early reports are promising.

From what I gather Begley is the better kick. Mutch’s left and right may be indistinguishable, but I don’t think kicking the pill is a feature of his game.

Sean Denham was equally adept at both sides, but could probably be described as workmanlike. I think clubs would prefer a player who has a stand out weapon on one side rather than competence off both feet. Hence the advice to Mutch that he should pick a foot early and get it up to a high standard.

Sorry about the snarky comment before.

In the pre draft assessments Mutch was rated as an excellent kick.

Although I think he was meant to usually be taking safe options. His kicking wasn’t meant to break open the game at all (my recall of the reviews). The hope is that it becomes so, and that Begley’s (and Ridley’s) do as well.

Its one of the pleasing things about this draft that outside of the late pick, everyone else is decently to superbly rated on their kicking.

Watch Begbie’s highlights video to see how beautifully he kicks the ball towards the goals. Almost has no place in our team with an action like that!

Yes, as I posted earlier, his goal kicking reminds me of Tony Lockett in his younger days.

"Begley– he’s the Ollie Wines type and he’s looking a beauty so I’m really excited to see how those young guys go.” Howlett

If he gets some fitness will be the first draftee after McGrath to play senior football this year. He looks a beauty to me. Has a classic kicking style which is much more fluent than Lockett. I rate this kid highly and from what I’ve seen I reckon we’ve plucked a nugget.

Could be anything.

This Begbie sounds good. Perhaps we should have drafted him.

Has a huge temper in Train Spotting.

On or off the field?

We could be the only team to have a Fridge & Freezer in the VFL this year.

I think it will be Clarke. Either way I hope there is a heap of competition for these spots.
