A week before the draft Begley was staying at a workmates place (he’s great mates with his son). He says to my workmate, “you wouldn’t mind if I had a few girls over to stay the night would you?”

I weight this comment highly - experienced player gets to see him up close, knows what makes a footballer, and is impressed. Very good sign IMO.
Last endorsement we had from a player that I remember was Alex Browne saying the Marty Gleeson was a gun half way through his first season when he’d barely played much VFL and no one knew what to think of him.

Not sure that’s true.
Daniel Connors was skillful on the field but his extra curricular activities limited his gameday and training regime and he eventually disappeared from the game.
Hopefully this guy is more of a Dane Swan / Dustin Martin type who are just as good on the field than they are off it.
