He was one of our best in round 1…just need a half to get rolling (like most of the group).
Round 2 he was dog ■■■■ like 95% of the side. We need to give him some more time.
Needs to be careful imo. If we keep finding talented half forward flanks his time could be up. I think this year he needs to really step it up.

I haven’t written him off as a midfielder. Its a position he struggles in so better to play tagging role and be led to the ball. HFF, should be his spot while Langford is out though and now Edwards gone too. Imagine to see a lot more ball headed his way up forward if he plays. Still Stringer role HFF + midfield bursts would be plan so that he can contribute more. If he’s sore just keep in the forward line this week.

I’ve watched people complete apprentiships and university degrees in the time it’s taken Archie to achieve zero of note.

He can kick, he can mark, he he’s pretty good in a 1v1.
But
Put him in traffic and he gets lost and doesn’t hunt the ball, probably because he’s not especially good below his knees and his acceleration is poor
He’s a very similar package to Jake melksham. he played his best footy after he bulked up and played isolation ball as a deep lying medium forward.
I think that’s Archie’s best shot at it, perhaps with some stints as a shut down mid every now and then.
He’s not zippy enough for the high forward forward roles and not good enough in congestion for midfield.
He could work in a forward line next to draper and caddy but put langford back in and it starts to look a bit heavy legged and our pressure will fall away.
I’m far from convinced there’s a place for him long term in this side with some zippier nga prospects and day wicks coming through.
If someone was nibbling on him for a second rnd pick I’d take it and run but that seems unlikely honestly

He’s going to have a Langford career, isn’t he? We try to make him something he’s not for 4-5 years until a hole opens in the team that actually suits him. Ironically, it could be Langford himself who is playing the role that Perkins could be best suited to.

Langford is playing a key forward role.
Perkins was being held out of his natural role - third forward / pinch hitter in the midfield - by Stringer
Unfortunately they have some of the same weaknesses and Perkins has nowhere near the strengths
I mean we need to give him more time as in the rest of 2025.

Realistically he goes to the VFL to learn to defend. He is absolutely useless in that regard. An absolute witches hat.

I agree with this, but we need to give him more time then 2 rounds. I know he’s been around for a few years now, but with new personal and structures in place, he should be given a chance to adjust. If he can’t…then its curtains.
I think you could be correct! I can see him becoming a very good player at another side. I think we just have to stop worrying about this to a certain degree because keeping him on the list based on what he could be rather than is just won’t help us improve our list.
