Yep, Brad has completely butchered his development by containing to play him when he has offered absolutely nothing
But the majority of the blame is on Perkins himself.

100% the kind of kid that would have benefited from being able to develop away in the reserves, working on his craft and building confidence without the pressure of AFL.
I think in an team like Geelong he’d have played half the number of AFL games and come from nowhere in his 3rd or 4th year to be a good AFL player on a finals team
And size/strength whilst neglecting power

You need to have a buyer as well. And if we are nust trading for future 4ths, there are other we should be trading before him
The trouble is I put him in a bucket with about 10 others we need to move on just to make us a competitive team, not even finalist.
And you’re right, you must have a buyer, highlights where we are at with Perkins, Tsatas, Hobbs, etc. all seemingly having no interest from other clubs.

This is looking like a full rebuild draft to me. Looks like we’re planning post-Merrett, post-Parish, even post-Redman. Adding Justice next year to Robey and Sharp, plus Durham who’s already there, is a very big and powerful midfield, especially if Tsatas also finds his way back to AFL-level form.

Essington have been recruiting as though midfield is x2 followers and x3 mids and 2 on bench or something like this instead of midfield being x10-12 players that rotate through with a couple of big bodied mids and a couple of speedsters.
I expect Perko’ll play much better with the addition of these newly drafted mids getting us closer to a fully functioning midfield unit.
