It’s all above the neck for Perkins, can play, can play tough when he chooses to - which he doesn’t most of the time, has the tools.
He just too much mental fragility and it cripples his game completely. He needs to go to an external coach, someone like the guy who worked with Dusty.
I wouldn’t object if Archie did that. But if he had to do it of his own initiative, what would it say about the ability of our senior coach and his staff to get the best out of Archie?
I think we got what we paid for with Perkins. Even in his draft year he would get 12 to 15 possessions and do a couple of flashy things. Guess we expected more upside but it just hasn’t happened. Needs to add a bit of the competitive beast that we see in Durham, Caldwell and Roberts. Those guys hate to lose a contest but I don’t see it with Perkins.
It wouldn’t say all that much. Plenty of players seek extra coaching away from their clubs. Most are applauded for taking on extra work, but it doesn’t reflect on the coaches inside the club.
Archie can do excellent things in footy.
Like a lead up and mark as though he’s a natural 3rd forward type. Kicks true normally as well from anything arounfd 45m. He can lay a tackle too.
But as the game accelerates and demands more pace, more quickness in thought and execution he seems to not be keeping up. And his tank to last a full game is I suppose under question.
Like him hugely as a Bomber .. like him as a specialist hff and reckon last season was compromised by injury..I so want him to succeed.gif. But his plateauing can’t keep going on.
