#16 “OMG it’s Archie” Perkins (Part 2)

Yep, just like Archie Roberts.

And ….?

Or would you prefer to retain the status quo? That is, players who will never improve Essendon and who are essentially list cloggers.

Maybe even give them all 4 year contract extensions.

When??? He’s had a handful of good games smattered between the vast majority being below average. He’s never even averaged more than a goal a game in any season. By what metric has he had A good season let alone multiples?

We can thank Lloyd for telling us about Roberts

I hope we can manage a few early to late second rounders if we are to trade some senior players

Apart from Merrett, none of the other senior players would attract very much interest from other clubs.

A second rounder for the likes of Wright, Langford, Redman, Parish, Gresham, McKay would be the deal of the century!

Stringer netted pick 53.

We could get 2nd Rounders from a Contending team for most of those players (not Gresh) as the Picks would likely be 30 somethings.

It would involve a large contribution of their Salaries though.

We as fans are really in no position to judge if deals like that are smart moves or not. We have no real idea of our salary cap position.

Poster boy for Brad Scott’s development.

Looked good early, showed talent, Brad comes in and he stalls or goes backwards.

We need to trade this guy asap, he openly states to his mates he doesn’t care about football and has no problem with being dropped. One of the many reasons our team is going no where. Trade him for a 4th/5th rounder just to get him off the list.

Just delist.

Waste of resources facilitating a trade.

At the end of 2024 I suggested an Archie Perkins for Mitch Lewis trade.

Archie had a couple of Rd.1 Best Ons against the Hawks, and Lewis was recovering from his knee reco.

Reckon his performances would have had the Hawks interested though we would have had to upgrade one of their picks.

We’d get a pick in the 30s/40s for Parish off a team like Geelong imo, maybe the Pies.

Could probably get a pick for 2MP possibly too but I think he is a good bloke personally.

Tassie is our only hope of a decent return for any of them

Brad is not stupid. Perkins will return against the tigers where he has a chance to have a good game. Brad can then justify leaving him in the team for the remainder of the year.

Haha, nice one. You’ve probably nailed it here, except the first sentence.

We need more speed.

We need better defensive runners.

We need players with intent.

So what does dumbfuck Scott do? Brings back Archie Perkins. I’m really at the end of my tether with this farcical ■■■■■■■ situation. Even more frustrating than the ridiculous amount of undeserved opportunities this guy has received is the fact that we shouldn’t even be debating this; we should have offloaded Perkins in the off-season. We can’t fix his flaws and he’s exactly the type of player a club in our position should be avoiding at all costs.

He is a good bloke. And for all his flaws as a player, he’s still an Essendon boy, from Moonee Ponds - one of our own, that is.

not sure. he needs a fair run at it for another 105 games.

Hope he goes well, but my guess is after playing ok in the VFL in the midfield he is bought in and played small forward..
