#17 Todd Goldstein - don’t forget, he’s here forever

Haha I remember one Friday night, probably 2015, Goldstein did to smack what Xerri did to Goldy tonight

I was wondering if someone was gonna mention that.

Can’t fault the effort, I hope when I’m 46 I’m still getting around with his level of fitness.

“Free kick Goldstein”… it was a nightmare!

Play them both until the MSD. Focus on developing Vigo, forget results this year and focus on fast tracking development of a young guy who is almost ready. We may need Vigo early next year whilst Bryan and Draper ease back in.

Draft Keogh or another State league ruck who is ready to go and then rotate between the 3 of Goldy, mature ruck and Vigo.

In the twos give Gerreyne more time in the ruck, and draft McMahon and/or Hunter to play as forward targets.

Having 4x AFL capable ruckman by end of 2027 (and Gerreyne not far off) may allow us to send one of Draper/Bryan off to Tassie for a nice pick or mini draft kid. Longish term I kind of like the idea of Vigo and Gerreyne as duo

(Which would be a similar position we were in when the Suns/Giants came into the competition which we didn’t capitalise on)

I’m a massive Vigo fan, but that’s a little bit of a reach .
Kids played 3 games as starting ruck.

Still agree with your thoughts s.
I’ll admit I’ve already had far too many thoughts of a Vigo/Gerreyn combo in a few years.

I think he’s “ready” to get games as the number 2 ruck man behind either Goldstein or a mature age guy we pick up.

But we are gonna need him early next year unless we find a diamond in the rough in the MSD or later drafts, so I’d rather he get some games in this year.

I think Vigo and Gerreyne could make an awesome combo, both have an edge about them. Vigo could be a Xerri type in a few years time. Gerreyne reminds me of a combination of Smack and Ryder, I hope he is more consistently confident than both of those guys though as both struggled with that facet during their careers.

Goldy is all heart but he looked like he was about to collapse in the last. We are in real fucken trouble with our two rucks down for the year.

No way is Old Gold going to be able to play the rest of the season, he’ll either ping something, or pop something.

I’d be giving Vigo some game time soon.

I’m concerned we are actually going to kill this man if we put him through a game like that again

use up your old things first.

We don’t need to play Dees or North again now so he should be right.

He possibly does need more support than just Wright though.

might have to giveReid a 5 minute spell each week too.

Was at the ground and don’t think Goldy is getting the level of credit he deserved for his effort. He was clearly in pain from a shoulder in the 3rd, then moments later pushed to a contest and hurt his ankle.just kept battling to get a few taps in contests to our direction. Showed more heart than Redman , Langford, Gresham combined

Wouldn’t be many 3rd choice ruckman and clubs as good as he is even at this age

They have to get another Rick for the second half of the year in the mid season draft. It’s not going to impact Vigo and then last couple of games give Vigo a run. Got to hand it to Goldy though he is a tough nut well par his best bur his greatest value is teaching these young rucks what it takes.

Bur he needs help.

We are and getting killed in clearances but it still is only a development year so will better off in the long run already the silver lining is thay 2MP has come back and actually been really good. Not sure he would have otherwise been getting a game.

Have no idea if he is even close to ready, but would love to see young Vigo get a go.

Wait, what? Ryder was the premier tap ruck in the league for a few years. If Gerreyne turns out to be half as accomplished, the club will be well served. Unless of course, you mean something else.

More a statement regarding their confidence affecting their performance, smack was an enigma partly due to brain fade and overly due to his fickle confidence and Ryder imo struggled early with confidence and not believing in his talent, don’t think he got there until he was under Hinckley.

I have no recollection of this being the case.
