laverde, mckay and weedman are going to get monstered by amartey, mcdonald and mclean, what’s your point ? other than typical nino fear mongering about something that hasn’t happened.
you know like how roberts would get monstered by everyone and wasn’t ready and once he played a ■■■■ game blitz would turn on him and want him sacked (ironically the nonsensical approach YOU would take).
weedman was dropped as a forward cos he wasn’t taking marks, nor kicking goals nor being competitive.
your lack of thought that goes into any of your posts, is only matched by your hunger for fear mongering.
Maybe worried about avoiding another Reid by putting up when he’s not physically ready for it and him breaking down.
Let’s be very very honest here, we as supporters have literally ZERO idea of his physical conditioning and preparedness to compete with hardened AFL bodies yet. I’m not saying I agree with the decision to not pick him, I would’ve liked to have seen him get a crack, but it’s not hard to see how a skinny kid who barely finished his 2km time trial at the combine still may not be quite ready for AFL footy yet.
You’d really hope he’s getting close though and another pre-season (abridged as they are for 1-4yr players) would have him right in the frame.
You don’t think every club does it with their kids? Every club has kids that sit in the 2’s for multiple years developing, it’s not just an Essendon thing.
And just because 1 player is more ready from a young age (Caddy for example), doesn’t mean everyone is.
There is always more balance and nuance to these things than “tHe cOAcH hAtES pICkiNg kIDS!”
Its simple at this point Weideman as a matchup must be regarded as strong as Hayes or stronger.
Weideman is uncontracted with 2 games left in the season and finals are pretty much kapoot.
List management need to make a decision.
It is about the future. Does Weideman have a spot on the list in 2025?
A line has clearly been put through him as a full time forward. His years at Melbourne and a change of an environment without any really improvement put paid to that.
Hayes may benefit from another preseason before throwing him in for a prolonged run in the firsts.
Let’s be real. He got picked because its “season on the line” stuff (even though we’re cooked) and he believes that weideman will be a better option than a key defender debuant down back in a “crunch game”
That’s the scenario. Picking a guy who you’ll delist in a few weeks makes no sense in no world. He’s deluded
He is not “getting a look” at Weiderman as a backman. Just as he wasn’t getting a look at Snelling last year. Just like he is not playing Shiel to “boost his trade value”. He will delist Weid just like he delisted Snelling. And Shiel will leave for peanuts.
Brad takes a very myopic approach to team selection. Pick the team that he thinks provides the best chance of winning … at all costs. Whether round 1 or round 24. Whether in finals or out. It doesn’t matter.
He will be reasonably aggressive in moving players on at the end of the season but in season he is 100% all in on every win.
Personally, I don’t think it is an approach a team in our position can afford and we should be setting ourselves up to contend in 2-3 years by blooding younger players now. But Brad has been awfully consistent.
but IMO debuting Hayes or El-Hawli would give the team a boost which may help them more than Weideman who is up against a hiding to nothing. And adds to the slow decision makers and poor kicks in defence we already have.
Carlton may lose against Eagles or Saints with their outs.
Dogs may lose to Giants in final week.
Freo could lose both matches too Giants & Port
