#18 Lewis Hayes - thru 2026

Even if we won last week, I didn’t see us getting in because of other results.

Well, in Scott’s world i guess it is. But you chose to run the narrative of he might not be ready physically which is just a copout.

There is nothing to suggest he isnt. He’s played nab cup games just fine. He’s been proven to be durable. He’s spent a lot of time in the VFL. His body holds up. Your referencing his time trial results fron a few years ago and he’s gotten fitter since then. It was reported during pre season how much his fitness had improved and we are 6 months on from that. He’d probably match up on amartey.

Stupid decision to not play him, but im hardly surprised.

Weideman didn’t have a future 12 months ago. lol

Weid is going to dominate and you will like it.

I don’t have an issue with Weide in for Cox, his form in the 2s has been fine. Hayes should be in over Lav.

Have a nice cuppa and a biscuit.

I’m comfortable.

Not as a forward no.

But he had a contract for this year. We havent played him at all despite our forward woes.

And im guessing if Zac Reid and Ridley were fit he might not be getting a go now.

Given we have played Nik Cox in Ridleys spot the last couple of weeks and Cox is completely unsuited to play in that role in the backline.

My guess is Hayes or Weideman havent exactly been banging the door down for selection.

Ive got no qualms that he is the guy we go for.

We have Hayes contracted for next year, its not like him being exposed against a pretty good outfit is going to do his development any good that a full preseason won’t anyhow.

FWIW im glad they can take a look at Weideman again - hes had a year of late career development in the VFL.

And Rosa will be the one making a call whether or not to keep him.

A bloke who has had excellent success in the WAFL building success over a 3 year period.

Maybe Weid has promised to go out in a blaze of glory Lloyd style. Or even Wakelin in the 04 GF.

Or maybe Hayes has a niggle and isn’t right to go this week.

Absolutely. God I hate where this club is going in the last two years.

see there’s the thing, what you say sounds plausible.

but then you take other factors into it
is caddy not in the same boat ? yet they are willing to take a chance with him re breaking his body against hardened bodies
adJ ditto.

it’s also not as if he’s playing against stringbean under 18’s in the vfl either. he’s been holding the backline down against decent enough opposition with just as a physical toll on his body.

Yeah he totally seems like that kind of guy :joy::joy::joy:

Softest bloke at the club and that’s saying something

It would be something to see though. Would prob throw a few air swings and then fall over, doing his hamstring in the process.

I have heard so many players being called the softest players at the club. This will probably be shut down early, so get in quick.

Who is the softest player at the club?

  • Weideman
  • Wright
  • A Davey Jnr
  • J Davey
  • Cox
  • Hind
  • Martin

All things considered - look at the size of weid compared to Davey :joy:.

2MP not a bad shout

Alwyn Davey Jnr is the softest player I have ever seen. Legit shitscared of any contact.

Plays like this:

I like whats “above the line”

Correct decision to not debut Hayes tonight, he really has to smash the door down much harder to break through our magnificent backline.
