Ahhh apologies, gotcha.
On the flip side, they also have one of the best ruckman of recent times mentoring them?
Vigo has rucked in every single game heās played for us. Obviously not first ruck, but how many first/second year talls do?
A season of learning first hand from Goldy is far from the worst thing that could have happened.
And Gerreyn was waaay last in the 2km trial over pre-season - heās got great potential but heāll blow up in no time as a main ruck at senior level.
Yeah using goldy as a playing coach was really clever with the soft cap on footy department spending now days. It should allow us to add an extra development coach to most other clubs, although not sure if this happened.
Iād just play this kid straight out of the square. Forget the ruck
Yeah I think his best chance of a debut this year is as a fwd, I guess it depends on how comfortable we are with 2MP as our main ruck though (assuming we donāt want to keep giving Goldy games).
I canāt think of too many better for Vigo/Gerreyn to be learning from for a year. I reckon Goldy has been great for the development of Draper & Bryan as well, up until their injuries.
I initially wasnāt a fan of keeping him (Goldy) on the list for another year but the silver lining given our circumstances isnāt too bad.
Itās why Iām happy for him to play on next year. Rather have an extra coach who is also an on field coach in the VFL than some pick 75. Goldy would be doing more for our tall player development in the VFL than anybody in the past 20 years
even more than Beachcomber as ruck coach?
No doubt he could help with the off field social influencing work but Goldy is better for footy stuff.
This last week has had me continuing to go back and think on Kayle.
I saw him absolutely blow his top at losing a 1v1 to McKay at training. Throwing his cap on the ground in anger.
Then during Saturday nights match he constantly screamed for the ball, and showed frustrations at being ignored. Then let out lion like roars after goaling.
Itās so nice to see true genuine passion and hunger to compete amongst our squad.
Itās been lacking and I feared we may have missed it with Voss departing. But it seems weāve found an upgrade
He is a positive influence, unless he is taking ruck minutes away from young ruckman who need hitouts against real opposition
Give this bloke a long term deal.
We definitely have something here.
Certainly the Blitz murmurs were that he was cut due to off field rather than on field reasons.
There was at least one media article criticising the decision to cut him.
Itās fair to say he (Gown) hasnāt exactly proven us wrong.
Why do you hate Kayle Gerreyn?
Does he have a nick name yet?
Iām gonna guess that G Train will be what sticks once the MMM boys start seeing him play.
ITāS TIME
BT is gonna love him. āA real LOOOK AT MEEEEEEEE sort of operator DARCE!!ā
