#19 - Kayle Gerreyn

He is the main reason why we probably won’t pick up a KPF in the MSD. Cannardly wait to see him in action. His inclusion will draw some attention away from Caddy. He won’t come in unless 2MP loses form.

“while young tall Kayle Gerreyn (14 disposals) was trialled in defence”

Good. I was hoping we’d try this.

He didn’t look out of place there either.

My issue with this is that he doesn’t have a great tank. Most the really good KPF’s in the league like to run their opponents ragged.

No better way to force him to improve his tank than make him follow quality forwards everywhere they go.

He played a chunk of preseason there, right?

Still has a fair way to go.

It’s got to be either him or McMahon surely.
With McKay and Curnow, you are not going to get away with Redman or Prior playing tall. And if they play both TDK and Pittonet, it could be even worse.

Sunday night will be cold and wet. Going smaller might be just fine.

Has Gerreyn had any time in the ruck this year or has he just been up forward (until last week)? Is he a forward first who will pinch hit in the ruck, or a genuine first ruck who can go forward?

Can’t we just let a youngster settle in a position (forward) for once?

All we do is move players around. Let him master the position before making him learn another

We’re out of tall defenders. There’s no harm in looking for an option at this point.

Pfft… we all know that BS Brad thinks going with talls is the best policy in cold, wet and windy weather.

How is he tracking? Was excited about him pre-season, I haven’t watched much VFL this year, is he tracking ok for his first year or not showing much?

Having to paly all over the ground due to the injury crisis has set him back imo, was building nicely when he was ble to play solely forward

Ok good to hear, he will learn from a defensive stint and can hopefully build towards a 2026 debut.

I think he was learning much more forward.

But either way, he needs to learn to get more involved so wasn’t near a debut anyway.

Any update on what’s happening with Kayle?

Apparently not.

Doesn’t look like its been mentioned in here yet. The previous week against Casey he went off just after half time with a shoulder injury and didn’t return. I imagine that’s why he missed this weeks game.
