#19 - Kayle Gerreyn

Watching the AFL telecast…… when his name comes up, and it says Ruckman. My initial reaction was “wtf are they doing”. Then 2 seconds later they show highlights.

The first highlight is him smashing a bloke off the ball.

I’m like “HELLO!”.

Then Cal says, “he’s a mobile Key forward, who can pinch hit in the ruck”

What a ride!

A lot of us on here never saw him play.

Bloke is going to manhandle Zac Reid on day 1 of preseason. Can’t wait to see him in action!

From the highlights, He tackles to hurt.

Yep! First port of call should be to lock him up in the video room and play the final quarter of the '84 GF on a loop for 24 hours and then Hooker’s winning goal in 2015…that should just about swing him towards being a passionate Bomber.

Also he’s not the typical type of KPP we tend to go for.

He’s big through the hips. He’s also proportionate in length between torso and legs.

Dodoro’s KPP recruits were often kids with long legs, small-ish torso, and not much muscle on the bones.

The likes of; Reid, Cox, Jones, Hayes, Daniher, etc. who have really long legs. Makes them easy to tackle, and easy to move under the ball in a contest, and don’t have the frame to put on much bulk.

I suppose so. I suggest you look him up . There’s a lot of recordings of him on YouTube, for example. Our classic CHF-2nd ruck. Gerreyn plays a lot like him.

Early days.

We are trading Zac Reid.

Infectious smile, some arrogance and brute about him. Love it.
Play him round one and get him to punch Sicily in the mouth. Need to rid himself of the positive talk of the ■■■■ and ■■■■ coloured club

Dodoro’s ideal KPP frame

He’s coming home!!!

Interesting thing I noticed though is I think he doesn’t use his body well yet in one on ones. Once learns to use it more effectively, look out!

Which is why the intelligent among us wanted him, if we couldn’t get Jonty Faull. We’ve had too many softish tall forwards in recent years. We need someone to go alongside Nate Caddy.

An aggressive 199cm KPF is also perfect to take turns in the ruck.

I really.dont get the Andy hate. Not his fault we took him at pick 1. Seems a great guy and a decent player.

While I know he did this sometimes, my memory is of the CHF / 2nd ruck in the mid 80s teams was Merrett, and before that there were a bunch of others in the 2nd ruck role including Crow and Taubert and the likes. Daniher could play any tall position anywhere, and did that, but ruck was easily the rarest of the positions he played.

We play gold coast round 1

Yes, I don’t remember him rucking much, if at all. He was too short, even for that era. Maybe the odd occasion in the forward 50 but not at centre bounces.

Guilty as charged.

You will never convince me that we aren’t positioning ourselves to make that play.

Exactly. He’d get the biggest pay day with us and he would be the contributing factor in us winning finals in >2 decades. Huge for a kid with as much ego as him
