#19 - Kayle Gerreyn

Never is a long time…reckon I could convince you by the end of trade week next year…

Well hand over all of our future and he’ll cop 2 more concussions and be retired by mid 2026.

I’m really excited by this lad. His highlights show a skilful player but also someone who attacks contests fiercely. He’s a solid build already, unlike most of the talls we draft who are skin and bone. Seems like quite an excitable, extroverted kid as well. Welcome Kayle!

That’s bait.

What the ■■■■ is wrong with you?

McGrath is a bloody nice human and a great leader of the club.

Try being nice mate. It doesn’t hurt.

There was one mark in that highlights package where he hits the pack hard at speed and clunks it, to see that from a 18 year old is rare.

Hille was a very good kick across all distances.

He already seems more intense than Tommy

Quite a big height difference between the two to make that comparison.

TD would be a midfielder now.

It’s hurt out club

I’ve seriously missed a big brut named Cale/Kayle in our side.

Add to that, the velvet sledgehammer’s bump on Sewell 2010. Captain’s effort for a final.

So many more educational points pls

Yes, he’s 11 cm taller than TD - but we’re not talking about TD playing now, at the age of 67. At 188cm (6’2") TD was average size for the positions he filled in the 15 years he played for us (1978-1992); the overall size of footballers has increased in the last 30 years, so that Gerreyn at 6’6½" in today’s game can be compared with the TD of 30-odd years ago.

Of the 3 other rucks we have, he is the most natural forward. Needs to improve his conditioning but the size is already there.

Good to see out last two ruck recruits have had a good frame to work with.

It was painful watching us take Cox, Reid, Jones, Eyre and Bryan in quick succession knowing how long they would take to mature and the injuries they’d be dealing with.

You can tell Kayle will be able to complement most other ruckman we will pair him with whilst also complimenting our current young KPF group.

As I’ve said I think he is a bankable 2nd ruck/FF (provided he works hard on his fitness and conditioning), but I wouldn’t write him off as a potential number ruckman either, he has the tools to be a high possession and high impact on both sides of the ball and their is still a niche in the AFL for smaller bullocking rucks who can provide the ground level presence of a mid.

Highlights remind me a bit of Thilthorpe at the same age. Big versatile mobile unit who can run when in the middle.

Blame it on Ger-reyn…”

And get Kako to sing it. He has the makings of a Milli Vanilli style hairdo.
