fwiw I’d keep Draper. I love him despite flaws, and think he’s great for the club, for more reasons than his football.
But I would not be mad if he left and we got a top 5 pick for him.

Battle was a year younger. But look let’s hope so obviously for our sake if he does leave. He’d want to have a good season and show a strong level of consistency to warrant a contract of similar magnitude to that. So far we are only going off a number plucked from bigfooty nor do we know the proposed tenure.

I like Draper at times, but this an opportunity to do a rebuild style draft at the top end those opportunities don’t come along often without completely bottoming out so we should be taking this chance with both hands
I think Bryan is surplus to our needs he’s the one that should go not Draper

Good point about his age but Crom can get a good 5 years of good footy out of him. Reckon even with the cap increase, he’ll still get a big enough contract to trigger band 1 compo. He’ll get silly money, as is the nature in luring free agents.
More importantly, the AFL do what they want and an Essendon resurgence would be a big money spinner.
Fark the Crows why should we give them our best ruck making us weaker and them stronger in the process.
If they need a ruck they can have Bryan

Clubs typically get a nod and a wink from the AFL in terms of what the FA compo will be. I’d expect us to know what the minimum qualification for that top end compo pick would be.
Oh I do but unlike some on here I don’t put high value on draft picks like they are farking gold.
I rather keep Draper then take a gamble on some kid in the draft.
You put value in mid table finishes, we know.

Caddy has been playing every game since he debuted even when Wright was playing so your wrong there
I can see Parish for Hobbs but Kako and Caddy aren’t being replaced by the likes of Guefli and Wright

Bryan only fetches a Pick in the 20’s somewhere.
Draper is floated as Band 1 Compo, with us having a poor year that could be Selection 4 or 5.
It’s the only reason we are talking about Draper.
I know you don’t want to play anyone less than Marigliani levels of physical development.
Bryan is going okay at 23 & a half.
Meek was probably doing less at the same age !
