The bigger issue is we have lost Bryan and Draper in consecutive weeks, rather than losing one of them. I don’t think there is much of a difference between any combination of Bryan, Draper and Wright.
Reminds be of Ben King … tried to get a big bidding going for his contract. Then did a knee… and was happy to sign with GC.
Stringer wasn’t the problem. He kicked 1/2 our goals last year.

Need to start planning a future without him and it sucks to say that because I’m a big fan of the bloke.

I’d be amazed if he isn’t done for the year.
Based on all the research I could find, average timeframe for return to sport is 22 weeks post-op.
Might as well get rid of Nick Bryant as well, contract or not, just cut them both loose right now, before they have even had surgery. Thatvwill show the league how ruthless we are.

A 2016 article but talks about other athletes who’ve ruptured their Achilles including Beckham and Bryant. Gives hope for Sam’s future.

The issue now is it used to be sign a big contract then get injured.
unless he has already signed, it’s now season ending injury before signing new contract. I guess Bryan and possibly Edward’s are also in the same boat

This gives Essendon the oppotunity to give some game time to young n developing rucks or try some others in that position such as Cox or Harrison
Other clubs will still come hard for Drapes.
But it is awkward. He needs rehab. I mean if he really wanted the bag and probably better short term success at Adelaide.
You wouldn’t blame him for taking it.
From a fan perspective I want him to stay.
Normally the silver lining would be Bryan gets plenty of minutes.
But he’s out too.
And this year Sammy was putting together the form of his career. It sucks
