#2 - Jacob Farrow

Just saw some footage of Farrow today that I hadn’t seen before. Can see why we took him when we did. Gun.

One play he had 2 bounces out of a centre break and stepped a guy hard which broke all his momentum and kicked a the goal from 50m off basically one step.

There’s a reason why this guy is the best young player easily this year out of WA.

Makes sense, he was ranked number 1 for metres gained at the Championships. Essendon didn’t have anyone in the top 20 for metres gained in 2025.

Watching some diff highlights you can see why he gone so high now.

Man, I see Jordan Dawson in this guy the way he moves and kicks. Haven’t seen a heap in his aerial game yet but that may come.

Definite midfielder is the future.

Still no farrow highlights on the club site…..

His new highlights are unreal. Looks like a gun.

Does he look, in game style, a little like Hodge off HB? He doesnt seem to mind a fend off…

Link?

Essendon instagram put up a reel

The bit of play with two bounces and a zig zag before kicking long over the zone onto someone’s chest inside 50….

And the last goal too.

We do need a good half-back Jordan Dawson type and I’m so hyped about this bloke.

It fills me with hope that finally the powers that be at Essendon may actually have a plan for the future. Most metres gained, good skills. Dare i say it, we may be actually identifying a way we want to play and drafting accordingly.

Very much in the Rivers/Dawson mould. Makes sense why Melbourne were into him as he has a lot of similarity to Rivers, and would also allow him (Rivers) to fully transition into the midfield.

The new “Package”

Does he go by Jake ?

He looks like the type who can own the game if he continues to develop.

Our Jordan Dawson or Finn Callaghan,

It really looks like we hit the jackpot this draft.

:crossed_fingers: All three could emerge quite quickly as serious talent.

Hopefully they will give Rising Star Honours a nudge next year.

Kicking in from full back though is a big advantage in the metres gained stat. In most of the videos I’ve seen most of his disposals are kick in’s or kicking it around in defensive 50, I wish W.A gave him more midfield time to see how he went against the best in there.

Ummmm OK I take back everything I said.

Still didn’t see much precision short kicking, the difference now is I don’t really care.

He seems extremely combative. If he can put on some serious size then he could be hard to stop…

Jason, Is it possible that we’ve understated his combativeness given he’s the least combative out of he, Robey, Sharp?

■■■■ me, farrow and robey both have line breaking potential whether by a booming left (farrow) or a burst of pace (robey).
