Perhaps shamefully, that’s actually one of my favourite wins.
We were missing a lot of good players that day though
This was a classic win in my books. Depleted side, horribly out of form, backs against the wall, etc. One of our best wins that season, IMO.
Us v Melbourne @MCG Round 15, 2015.
One of the worst games I’ve ever watched.
The peak of Shaun Edwards’s stocks.
Shaun-ye!
2019 v GC at Metricon (as it was known then) - Went up to watch this game with mates. Was hoping for a stress-free afternoon but it was anything but that. They are absolutely ■■■■, we had zero intensity, trailing by about 5 goals in the 2nd term. Then we got our heads out of our arses in the 3rd, Smack went on one of his 5 min purple patches to get us back in front.
Thought we were going to run away with it only to concede about 3-4 goals in a row in the last to trail only for Hooksey to put us in front with about 30 secs left, then Stringer scored a goal from the centre square straight after that. Solid 10 point win. ![]()
Back to back wins against the dogs and lions in rounds 7 and 8 2014, with the lions as the worse of the two. 65-57 against a team that got mauled either side of that game. We were up by a few goals at half time, down at three quarter time, scraped over the line. Absolute stinker of a game against a team that conceded over 100 points a game that year.
Crows in Adelaide during Covid. Ned Cahill debut. Putrid
Another GC one was I think Fletcher’s 350th up there.
Others I can think of:
2024 WCE at Marvel. Up by 6 goals early in the 3rd, lose the lead with a minute to go. Langford goals from the next centre clearance. Dons by a point.
2023 that one, but absolutely a shocker.
Nothing to be shameful about. In the circumstances this one wasn’t too bad. Doubt it makes a theoretical top 50 worst list.
There have been several shockers against WC at Marvel in the last decade or so. Supposed regulation wins that turned into small margin slogs.
Another vs (a poor) Freo in a final round at Marvel where we had to win to guarantee a final spot. Was that the one where a few heroics by AMT was all that got us over the line?
Think you’ll struggle to keep this list to 20 @Ta0Ta
I thought so too before I started looking through the candidates. A lot of them are unremarkable to the point where I could barely say a word about them.
There was the 2017 last H&A game where Merrett kicked 4 and we were unconvincing? I can’t remember Walla doing much that day. Maybe it was one of those low-scoring Freo games at Docklands during the following years?
Round 3ish vs NM in 2025. Needed Merrett to have 400 touches to get over the line
