2013/14 EPL Chat

Well it all starts next weekend I have high hopes for my Gunners, but you need to bring in players to justify them sometimes.  Especially when most of those around you at the top have spent up big!  I think we may be around the tp 4 by the end, but I think Spurs will probably (finally after all their talk) finish above us.  They have bought in some really good players and even if they sell Bale then they will have plenty of money to buy replacements that are high quality.  City will have to be therabouts as will Chelsea.  How will United go with a new manager (yes I know the previous two clubs I have mentioned have a new manager too).

Will be an interesting season hopefully.  Go Gunners!

Liverpool are set to be as mundane as ever this year. I can sense it now.

I can't understand Arsenal's desire to get Suarez and I hope they don't.  He'd score them a lot of goals, but he's also highly likely to get himself rubbed out for the season for hitting a referee or spitting on an opponent or some equally insane thing.

I hope we don't get suarez.  He would score goals and probably win some games for us, but at what cost?  And who is to say that he would not try and screw us over like he is doing right now?

i'm not sure Wenger really wants Suarez. He hasn't really bought big name players in recent years. Wonder whether he is just making a show to appease the fans?
If he wants Suarez then raising the bid to 50 million will likely get it done. So why not just offer tat if he wants Suarez? Arsenal are one of the few clubs who can afford it.

Le ■■■■ really missed a trick with Higuain. All the reports suggested he was good to go until Real upped the price. Would still have been cheaper than Suarez and with none of the baggage.

Totally agree Bugman!

Hope your right about Spurs finishing higher than Arsenal but I'll believe it when I see it.

Gustavo would be a nice addition to the Gunners... though we do need quite a few more players 17 first-team players is far too thin for a season. Spend that 100m quid Arsenal. Though, I do think we need to move on from Suarez, far too much trouble for 50m pounds. On the other hand, what other options do they have for a decent striking option... Fark this transfer period has ■■■■■■■ me.

If Wenger doesn't buy soon, and you guys have a bad start to the season he will cop all sorts from the terraces. Hasn't the club come out and said you have 70Million pounds.to spend. Higuain would of been a massive get. Sometimes you have to pay over the odds for really good players. Not sure if Wenger is willing to spend it though.

Really hoping Man United can bring in a few reinforcements before the window closes. Fellani would be a great get for 23mil

Am going to the Arsenal v Villa game this Saturday arvo. Interested to see if Arteta is fit to play. Didn't get allocated a season ticket this year - apparently still a 'significant waiting period'. Jerks.

Arsenal seem to have lost the ability to identify the young talent with a reasonable price tag.

Buying any player for 50 mil is a huge risk.  Liverpool paid a fortune for Torres and he was brilliant for them.  Chelsea paid even more for him and it hasn't worked.  Some players just don't fit with some clubs, some get injured, some lose form.  If Wenger's got 70 mil to spend, he'd be better spending it on 5 or 6 players than one.

very good point. They really do have a number of areas that need bolstering:

*Midfield- need another defensive mid as help for Wilshere and Diaby.

*Striker- they still haven't replaced RVP, they need a top quailty striker, a player like Rooney or Suarez would suit their style. Though they both come with a lot of baggage.

*Defense- need a strong centre back, who will stand up against the rough teams eg Stoke. They need another keeper or have they signed  Julio Ceaser from QPR?

The hardest part is because he has kind of let his team weaken gradually over the last 3/4 years without fixing up issues. 70mil is just not enough to turn the Gunners into champions imo. Still a lock for top 4, especially if Bale leaves.

Don't we (Arsenal) only have 11 players fit at the moment? LOL if so.

??? Why don't think your boys will make it?

Laudrup is a good choice for first manager gone- they were horrible at the end of last year.

I think we have not strengthened and spudz have even if they lose Bale.  Soldado is quality, they just bought a Brazilian (who knows if he is any good, but he is Brazilian). We have got a kid that I think will probably be a good player, but probably not in 2013/14.  Should have got Gustavo, Higuain and Feillaini in my opinion.  Needed a DM as much as anything, not sure a triallist is going to cut the mustard.  A good goal scorer would be nice.  Feillaini is a good player possibly overs at the reported 23 million poonds, but apparently we have the money to spend...Tough for the last two Champions to not make the top 4, and chel$■■■ are undoubtedly better with their signings and manager, so long as the friction between the owner and the manager are is ok.

I think Laudrup will walk as much as get pushed because he may be forced to sell at least one of Ashley Williams and Michu.  He will not like it and will leave on his own terms.
