This has been one of the best years for music releases for some time. Maybe since 1997/98. 2007-09 were also good. But this year has been really consistent. Many veteran bands coming from out of the woodwork to release good albums.

I could list 40 good albums from this year, combined with many great singles,
2013 will be remembered as great for releases.
I have paid little attention to metal and hard rock this year, so that’s a bonus in that there are many more good albums to discover.
I'm really terrible at keeping up with new music, but two great albums from this year that immediately come to mind are Life Sentence by Satan, and Target Earth by Voivod.
Disinterested Handjob - The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary EP
Ulcerate - Vermis
All Pigs Must Die - Nothing Violates This Nature
Svart Crown - Profane
Gary Numan - Splinter
There's probably stuff I've forgotten for now. Underwhelmed by Blockheads and Front Line Assembly. Disappointed by Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Portal and Iron Lung released. By and large I'm listening to a lot more old stuff than new.
Disappointed there wasn't a Bolt Thrower album. I may be waiting a long time.
You listened to Deaf Heaven, DHJ? Pretty much grind and some guy screaming, then another couple guys start screaming, and about 8 minutes later you realise there was a bit of a song in there.
Mootsy I love you. Handsome Furs are an incredible band. Broken up now.
I tried that new Deafheaven album, not into that music at all, never tried it. It's not too bad but very hard to get into. I couldn't look past the 96 metascore, many rate it as one of the best albums of its type in years. And from memory they are from USA
Two 2013 releases I've played a lot this year have been "Somewhere" by the Keith Jarrett Trio, proving that creative spirit has little to do with physical age, and "Family Portraits", the largely solo piano cd of our own multi talented Andrea Keller.

Odd.
Just had a listen to their latest album. It's definitely not grind, more an ambient black metal album. Pretty much alternates throughout between quiet acoustic/ambient sections, and full-on blast-beat sections with meandering tremolo riffs and generic black metal growling. It's pretty much one or the other all the way through. I don't like it, it flows poorly and there are no interesting riffs. The sort of album you can listen to several times over (if you can stomach it) and still not remember any of.
