You are wrong about a Couple of things Kingston Town
Senior list 39 Rookie list 5 plus Conor on the special list.
Rookies cannot be drafted by other clubs. They are on your list just like the senior listed blokes. Jenkins was traded.

Why upgrade Long? Give him another year on the rookie list and let him develop, he is still very raw. Tippa is different as he has been in the system a couple years longer so has a bigger body.Agree
disagree. yes hes raw, but hes more than competent at senior level. Had his one year apprenticeship in the VFL, hes ready for senior footy, especially with another preseason under his belt.
Delist/Trade/Retire (8): Hibberd, Ashby, Dempsey, Pears, Cooney, Edwards, Kommer, McKernan
That leaves 9 places on the main list:
Rookie Upgrades (2): Hams, Walla
Signed ‘Top Ups’ (2): Kelly, Dea
Assume we get #27 for Hibberd.
Then we take 4 players in the national draft: #1, #19, #27, #37
Last spot goes to JOM via the PSD.
Hibberd < Kelly
Ashby < Dea
Dempsey < Walla
Pears < #1
Cooney < #19
Edwards < #27
Kommer < #37
McKernan < JOM
We will have effectively ‘upgraded’ all 9 spots on the primary list. Would be an awesome list of 40 next year… just awesome.
I don’t see the value in keeping Hams? I know he’s a blitz favourite, but struggled this year. I’d prefer to give him a VFL contract and give someone like A Heppell a crack on the rookie list.
IMO, we don’t sign Kelly, he’s not really in our age bracket. Maybe he’ll go to GWS or the dogs for one last chance at another flag.
I think we should sign Dea. He has proved his worth and is young enough. People forget how old Bags is…
Dempsey, ashby, hams, demps, Cooney, Edwards, Kommer, Gwilt, Hibberd and Pears will go.
I’d give Smack 1 year for depth.
I’d keep McKenna on the rookie B list for one more year, just for the list space.
Long to stay on rookie list with Gach and Wallis. Long and McKenna for upgrades at end of 2017 when I think we may see some extra retirements (BJ, howlett may go, Jobe depending on contract etc)
all just my opinion.

Seriously, Blitzers ability to do math does my head in.
My view:
Senior List
Out: Hibberd, Pears, Kommer, Ashby, Edwards, Dempsey, Cooney, spare slot
In: Dea, Walla, McKenna, Kelly, #1, #19, ~#27, #37,
Rookie List
Out: Walla (promoted), Hams, McKenna (promoted)
In: Heppell or Holmes
Mckernan kept for depth.
Not sure on Gwilt.
If Pears chooses to stay it makes things tight.

Huh?
8 out, 8 in.
I see what you’ve done Ants and the logic is right in normal times. This year is anything but normal. Ess have 10 top ups going out (forget about retaining anyone for the minute) 10 victimised will come in (this excludes Hibberd & Pears), so by including Hibberd and Pears in your outs you’re double dipping. That’s what I meant earlier about tough time for Woosha etc. Hope this helps.

100% what I’d do too.
Top-ups aren't "real". They're not on the list. Which is why I haven't made any allowance for them except for us picking up two of them as DFA's (which is why Dea and Kelly are on the list of "ins").I see what you've done Ants and the logic is right in normal times. It is a perfectly normal year. We have our original “true” list, and I’ve got us delisting/trading/retiring 7 players from it. The current list also has a spare spot (currently used as an extra rookie slot) which I have being filled. Giving us 8 outs. I’ve then got us picking up two players via DFA (Kelly, Dea), promoting two rookies, and taking four draft picks.
Otherwise, if you want to do it your way you have to list every single top up plus empty top-up spot used on rookies and list all the changes. Why on earth would you want to write out that mess?

Your right, overthought it using the EssFC website, your way - the right way - opens up many opportunities, happy to be wrong (again)

Unless one or both of our very “durable” ruckmen gets injured then we start robbing peter etc
I’m in favour of upgrading anyone that has proven themselves to be able to play senior footy and have a bit of ability. That’s why I’d upgrade Long. Same reason I’d have upgraded Dell etc. when we never did. I think rookies should be kept for rookies - marginal guys who we’re not sure about. Cycle them through and have another look. I’d be upgrading all 4. But I know that’s a philosophy the club doesn’t really share and the only one that’s a certainty is TIP. It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Connor.
If McKenna stays…he plays on the main list. He has the ability
I’d rather Kelly than BJ just queitly

If??
I think we’ll keep Gwilt. He would be handy as a relief defender when injury comes.
We went into 2016 with Gwilt, Pears and Hibberd. Dea can cover Hibberd, but I don’t see us getting in two more tall defenders.
List management clearly have a required number of defenders and based on little availability to bring someone in Gwilt stays.
I wouldn’t be adverse to trading out Jackson Merrett.

And Hartley and Francis have gone past both.
