2016 Top 10 Draft Predictions

So today I was just putting together my top 10 and wanted to see what everyone’s thoughts were coming to that time of year. Hopefully we can have a bit of fun and see what everyone puts together.

  1. Essendon- Hugh McLuggage

Hi ho silver away!

I can’t see Carlton passing up on Brodie though

Florent/Logue linked to Sydney at 9

Think Setterfield will get bidded on at 6

Might see GWS bid on Bowes but otherwise i agree with it

I have a sinking feeling Disco will pick McGrath

Quick, give him a call and let him know what a big mistake you think he’s making!

I have a sinking feeling Disco will pick McGrath

I’ve felt like this all along tbh, without the sinking feeling. Although I would prefer Clug. Main reasons:

  • Our historical emphasis on ‘leadership’ and ‘character’
  • The Robert Shaw link

Oh no… now I don’t know who I want.

McGrath has Connors as manager…

But Cluggs has Peeto as a fan…

… neither are good omens.

For me it’s our history of picking defenders that can push into the midfield.

To be fair, the last 3 drafts have not been like that.

I wonder if Heppell Jnr is texting Dodoro telling him to pick him up like walla was last year.

I’d be just as pleased with any of 3 or 4 players.

Now that said - can I just point out to those making ‘historical selection’ comments. You need a bit more than a few handfuls to make any kind of relevant statistical impact on draft selections, ok? If you think about it carefully - these kind of comparisons are pretty much useless and sit better with pseudo-journalists and so-called sport-writers. Selecting anyone based on whether experience was TAC or not, whether they were 184cm or not, whether they were from Leongatha or not, whether they had blonde hair or not, whether they were over or under the age of 19.5, whether they weigh as much as a duck or not - is all rubbish, ok? You’re wasting your farking time.

I want Jane Bunn… did I just say that I mean Luggage

Robert Shaw admitted that he doesn’t know much about McLuggage.

I think we’ll pick clug as it fits more with woosha’s kick more goals philosophy.

I think we'll pick clug as it fits more with woosha's kick more goals philosophy.

And what of his physical conditioning philosophy?

Entire mantra at WC was being able to outrun opponents. Non negotiable about being in peak athletic fitness.

McGraths the best athlete by far.

While I do not profess to have any clue as to who will draft who, I think the knock on effects of us picking McGrath over McC could be interesting. I don’t think GWS would be any certainties to take McC given their young midfield stocks. Would they take Ainsworth, English or go the mid? Could be interesting and shake up the widely assumed composition of the top 10.

Really? Without question?
