In 2017, clubs will have two byes, one for the state game and one during the season which coincide with AFL Club byes. The VFL finals will begin on September 2 and conclude with the Grand Final on Sunday September 24.

The Geelong VFL / AFL double will be good on the 13th May

The Richmond VFL / AFL double will be ok on the 27th May

No footy at all for us on the weekend of the 17th June… booooo.

Only one timing clash this year which is nice… 30th July.

And plenty of our AFL away games have a VFL game we can attend on that weekend for a footy fix… a lot of them at Windy Hill.

Reckon the bye is ok. Perfect time of year to head up to Northern NSW, for a week or so, and drop in for the Sydney game on the way back home.

This fixture gels with the senior fixture a lot better it seems than the last couple, maybe with only 1-2 matches as an exception.

40 or so players AFL listed players will be scratching to get match practice in the 3-4 week gap between the AFL and VFL kickoff. So I guess there will be practice matches but they are a bit ho-hum, being at VFL level.
