2019 Draft Watch - it’s over, apart from all the remaining bits

It is my opinion that our most pressing need is for

  1. small forward
  2. small defender
  3. Inside Mid
  4. Ruckman
  5. Key Position Defender

The first 3 are due to an imbalance on our list where we have too few options to bring in if our first choice players go down. The last 2 to look for replacements for our ageing veterans.

We had three guys kick over 20 goals this year, two guys last year.
I reckon any - and every - type of forward is a need.

Philp, Rantall, Jeka - easy.

PICK HIM UP, ESSENDON! This young man has his head screwed on the right way and comes across as a born leader! Must be our first pick if he’s still available.

I found this a little disturbing.

What a ripper kid! Good country boy with a excellent interpersonal skills. Is he any chance of still being there at our picks?

What does that even mean? He’s thick? Lol

He is a good chance, wether we still take him though is the question

Reckon Dodoro will jump if Taheny is available - Was touted as a top 10 pick, if not a top 5 pick at the beginning of the season.

Only saw Taheny in the Championships, but didn’t like the way he moved…to me he looked clunky like a rusted-up robot.

Is that Ham interviewing him? It’s true, the camera does add 5kg!

Interviews well, but doesn’t look skinny enough for Jackets’ preference, which is for physiques more like the interviewer’s.

Where would he rate on the Reimers Scale?

lack of tribal tattoos and dobber qualities, doesn’t qualify.

Very disappointed to read a fluff piece on my man Jay Rantall. Reallly want him with our first pick. Looks like clubs just ahead of us are likely to get him first. With Green gone and Cooper Stevens likely to follow, Rantall is the inside mid that I think best suits our needs. He has huge upside and is physically ready to make an early debut.

I would’ve thought our aim was to move our first pick up the draft order, Dodoro has said as much. So may still be in the frame.

But hey, you know what’ll happen, we move up the order, decent mids are available, then we take someone named Ariel who’s going to be great cos he’s been in Canada not playing football.

I think we are more likely to use our three picks in the 60’s to get into the mid 40’s, but it will certainly be interesting to see if clubs will allow us to turn 31 into something better.

If we cant get 22, just get 29, to prevent other clubs trading in front of us.

Luke Partington ? Supposedly much improved . Late pick or rookie?

Much improved…and delisted?
