Some sides have more to prove at this time of year than others. Sydney will be more in tune when it matters.
I came across an interesting stat yesterday. Since 2000, the side that was top of the ladder after rnd 1 in a leap year has gone on to win the flag.

Sydney aren’t stupid they didn’t go hard after Joe for a reason. They are on rebuild mode and needed to two top 5 picks not a mature forward. They will be bottom 4 again this year.

Trying to watch a replay of the Freo v fcfc match… it’s always great to see fc lose. But the 3 dck head commentators making it impossible… they never shut up. Moorcrofts Ladder brad Johnson is the worst. Laughing like an idiot for 10 mins after a drubbed kick.
Players skills might be a bit rusty but nowhere near as painful as the constant irrelevant noise coming from commentators.
To the tv broadcasters… please, please give us ‘atmos only’ option.

I’ve got Freo as my smoky this year to make the 8. I know they only played Fark Carlton but I think new coach, fresh ideas, maybe a bit more flair and attack in their play, if they can be hard to beat in Perth they only need to win a few games on the road and they sneak a 7th-8th spot…

It’s exactly this kind of attitude by the club that made us miss/abandon a game a few years ago?!
It’s possible they get the honeymoon bump. Imagine playing under Lyon for so long and then you get the shackles loosened. St Kilda didn’t get one because he rode that list into the ground.

I’m tipping them for 16th-18th. Their list is terrible. Only Gold Coast has less average games played across their best side.
Yeah, that 2011 list was completely cooked. The only positive about his last few years at Freo was they actually accumulated some decent young talent. The base is there for Longmuir to work from. They still have one of the premier players in the AFL in Nat Fyfe. There is a lot of scope for an immediate new coach bounce. I wouldn’t take them lightly…

Collingwood beating Richmond quite comfortably at the moment.
Tigers look out of sorts (but they are without 6 of their best I suppose)
what i cant stand about dwayne russell is that he ends every sentence with an inflection that makes it sound like he is surprised, or that what is happening is suprirsing.

I have been banging on about this jerk for years, He just has no real idea of quality broadcasting and ruins any match that he is calling whatever code by his inane comments. Would be the worst on radio, including regional stations, by the length of the straight. I turn off whenever he is calling!!
