2020 Marsh Community Series - less interesting than soft drinks

Throw a new colour, tweak the flavour, it’s still the same

Anybody else used to get the home deliveries for fizzy drinks?

My grandma and grandad did. Raided that stuff whenever we went over. Except sarsparella, sarsparella can ■■■■ off.

The same issue still there for Hawks compete well for 2 and half qrts then completely fall away. Their 2nd halfs in games have been poor for a while now.

I think we had one called Loys or something as a kid. It was a big treat and all the neighbourhood kids would come around when the van stopped at our house. Personally I loved the sarsparilla and creaming soda.

Several times when we were kids, from different Mobs, … Tarax was one, . can’t remeber the first, but we’d walk past one of their depots on the way to school in Reservoir, … I wanna say 7 up, … but I think that;s Yank, … it was something like that though.

Down Sth Gipps Later, it was “Joe’s” softdrinks in Korumburra that supplied Invy to your door.

They had 2 types of Cola, a light and a Dark, … and there was nothing ever before or since that matched the Joe’s Light Cola.

took my 7 year old down to watch dees hawks.

stayed till just after half time, as my boy rolled his ankle playing kick to kick.
probably 15mins watching footy, the rest mucking around.

Petracca had one nice burst through the middle. And was nice seeing melksham do well and kick goals.

Dees won the midfield battle IMO in the small sample i saw

at least 30-50 dees faithful cheer squad members there.
not that many hawk fans turned up.

lucky if there was 2,000 people there.

would probably get that to watch efc train here.

back in around 2000 Essendon VFL played a night match there went there and around a few hundred people, we had the 40 gallon drums on fire behind the goals, Winderlich was playing, walked out on the ground and he was the only one to come up to me and high five me. Loved that night

A dash of Sarsaparilla ( the pure stuff ) in a beer the next morning is the best way to recover

Edit Beer and Sars ask anyone over 50

Oh no, … went through the phases of Raspberry or Lime shot Jugs on Sunday pub recoveries way back, … and the odd Bloody Mary works, … but I think I’d draw the line there, …

If the opportunity ever arises somehow, … I will give it a go & see though.

Yeah the syrup Sarsaparilla , a dash with the beer, gives the sugar rush, kick on, really nice too!!

The Schepp’s traditional lemonade was sensational.

Portello deserves a mention, too.
