Oh joy now it seems that Aliir Aliir has a syndesmosis injury. I am looking to LTI him now pending confirmation from the Port medicos.
Essington-ton like performance to start the seasonā¦
Well, Iām still in front the next morning so I think I can assume that Iām now safe from adjustments. Thank goodness!!
Firstly, bad luck to Wez. Obviously this looks quite different without Salemās injury.
But we are very very happy to claim a round 1 win. Our aim was to clear 1200 , and we thought weād need 1250 to be competitive each week. As itās turned out, that was probably on the money. We didnāt quite get there this week, though we could have had we known that Sholl and Powell would end up playing. That wouldāve put us up around 1240.
Quite a polarised round for us - some big scores - Kennedy, Green, and Daicos on debut - , but also some badly underperforming scores . It felt like that across the entire comp actually. Soldo and Cotchin are early worries for us, but we think Kossie just had one of those nights for a small forward. Tomlinson having to play as a key defender rather than third tall wasnāt ideal, but was better than a donut. We may have some options there if Lever gets up for next week, and Sholl should be named in the Crows 22.
But in a 2 point win, every player was obviously crucial, and they all get a pat on the back from a very relieved coach. When you only managed one victory in the previous season, a Round 1 win is like gold. Weād have beaten 6 or 7 other sides too, so weāre hoping to add a 2nd win in the near future. Might not be next week though with Jeffersons boys, we need to find another 100 points based on this rounds scores. But Iām confident that this squad is starting to grow a bit.
Really happy to get a win first up. Lots of positives and not too many headaches.
The Good
- Doing Vandrs proud and knocking Windy Dill off his perch in my debut game as coach
- The team is full of kids yet managed to score 1300 even despite McCluggage only scoring 2
- The back line ā other than Mitch Hinge, the starting 6 scored 70 or higher with the teamās pensioner in Hayden Crozier getting an even ton
- Ben Keays ā with a score of 132 he almost scored more than 3 players we offloaded to Crazy Bomber in the trade deal Nankervis, Taylor Adams and Coniglio
- Other trade acquisitions to perform at or above expectations were Hayden Young 81, Ollie Florent 96, Will Brodie 77, Tom Atkins 74 and Mitch Lewis 94
- Jade Gresham scoring 99 after retiring from a serious injury
- Jamaine Jones scoring 97 after taking him at pick 104 in the draft
The Bad
- Callum Ah Chee should have never been a keeper and his 33 demonstrated this fact
- Yes it is only Round 1, but Josh Ward underperformed compared to his peers from the top 5 of our draft
The Ugly
- Our ruck situation is not looking great with Ladhams seemingly out of favour at Sydney and now Max Lynch has suffered a concussion. We will be tapping up the free agency pool this week.
I fell asleep before Suns game finished and have just caught up now

Thanks mate. Tough loss! Too many passengers in the fwd/back lines.
@Dunlop I havenāt seen any timeframe for Salem yet, but surely knee cartilage surgery means 6+ weeks yeah?
Yeah, your mids killed it, and Rowellās second half very nearly got you the win. I was very concerned about he and Touk against a weakened Eagles midfield. So many āwhat itāsā in a 2 point game.
The Good
4 tons
Rachele slotting straight in
Rankine looking to have switched on
Max King with a 77 on debut
The Bad
Nothing, nothing bad happened this week
The Ugly
2 tons not on field (1 not even in the starting 22)
My ā ā ā ā ā ā ā midfiled, not helped by a 24 from Duursma injured in the first quarter (luckily not looking serious). Serong and Hopper ā ā ā ā the bed in a big way.
My ā ā ā ā ā ā ā defence, Zac Williams is ā ā ā ā . I dont know what Fark Carlton have done to him. Milera I can excuse as it was his frist game in 2 years at this level.
The Gold Coast suns. pillocks. why bring in 2 big men who play forward and then also switch your best defender to the forward line. Just leave him where he was, itās not like King has retired or left the club.
Stating 6+ weeks, so can I please LTI Salem?
Done (heāll be eligible to be removed for Rd 8).
Can I LTI Langford please @Dunlop
@Dunlop
Aliir Aliir Ankle 5-6 weeks
From the ALF injury page under Port. I thought I heard this morning that he will be almost certainly going in for surgery. I will be impressed if it is āonlyā 5-6 weeks.
The Good
Top score for the round!
Ok itās only 1427 but itās a good start. Nice to see Lipinski start well with Collingwood. Also very pleased with Marlion Pickettās 84 which is a strong start for pick 170 in the draft. Still some room for a pure C to lift their game and boost scoring into the 1500s. One can dream.
Also happy to see Connor MacDonald debut and Patrick Naish get a start with the Eagles.
The Bad / Ugly
Iāll letās let the players celebrate the win without ragging on them.
With the latest injury list saying indefinite for Lambert, can I please place him on the LTI?
Iāve got another too. Bramble still on a TBC, struggling to find a timeframe.
A quick reminder to send PMs to @FF_Original_FAs.
I do this because I only log into that account when processing the FAs and donāt want to see a snippet of anyones picks in my PMs at all.
First round will be processed tomorrow night.
Cheers and best of luck with FAs.
What time is cutoff?
11pm.
I usually start processing it shortly after that time, then post the results.
Plenty of time to get a gauge of the selected teams and who may getting selected that week.
Itās a stress fracture mate - 6-8 weeks, absolute best case scenario from when the injury occurred. Iāll approve it, if its a formal request.
@Trotters
@The_Mad_Bomber
@Stoops
Langford, Aliir & Lambert all approved.
Hunter Clark onto LTI for the Seagulls.
Haha today? Just missed it!
