2023 AFLW Best & Fairest Night

LOL, April Sun in Cuba. I think it must be required by law to play that for cover bands here.

Which one? Not following but am a fan of Jay White

You win!

And we are all fans of THE SHOCKMASTER!

Bonnie Toogood… love the way she goes about it. Genuine superstar of the competition. Best in the business.

No huge surprises for me, slightly surprised Gamble made it to 7th but otherwise it’s basically what I expected

Got a consolation prize:

To be sorta kinda fair, if at the end of each game they think “so who was our best ruck?”… well, you’re gonna rack up some points within this system.

Toogood = 76% of a perfect score
Prespakis = 71%
Wales = 55%
Nanscawen = 52%

Everyone else failed.

I’d love to see a list of other such “awards” presented.

Our two best players this season were undoubtedly Bonnie and Maddy. The difference from last season was that Bonnie stepped up a notch and was brilliant and a well deserved winner of the B & F. On the other hand, Maddy was not quite as damaging. She was still great but lost a little on her effective penetration and was a worthy second, but will expect more from her next season. Bonnie could step up a bit more as on occasion had a quieter game. Then there’s Wales. Could be anything next season and could step up to challenge the top two. Her growth curve is exciting and gives plenty of scope for optimism. Well done to all the team and let’s look forward to another step forward in 2024.

At the risk of stating the obvious, we’re too reliant on Bonnie and Maddy. They are fantastic players but our next rung are a long way back.

We need much more from eg Gee, Scott, Cain, VDH, Gamble if we want to challenge the top teams.
