Lucky for us the next group of players are in their early 20s and still developing.
I still think we’re a few years away from consistent finals games. We’ll either sneak in or just miss out next year. We did have a tough draw this season in that we played a lot of the teams competing for finals, but we didn’t get to go against North, Brisbane or Melbourne. I think we’ll draw two top 4 teams next season and find it tough to match them.
We need time. Not just for the players to develop but for our training programs and match day preparation to be refined and for it to seep through into the playing group.
For me, 2026 is when I expect a big tilt for the top 4 and more importantly a sustained period of being there abouts for three or four years. Of course, with a list of 30 players, injuries and continuity are the biggest x factor as to how far we go.
