Essendon Board does need more “ordinary” supporters as members, and I might even vote for you. I just do not share your distain for Kevin Sheedy.

You should ask Bacchusfox to nominate you. IIRC you need a nominator and two others to support you. I’ll sign up for supporter. You won’t be going for Worzel’s seat anyway. The bloke you need to concentrate on is the other one who’s up for re-election, namely the Invisible Man, aka Tim Roberts.

Just on this, I know not many here know him but Tim’s been exactly as invisible as a Director should be to the general public, at least in my opinion. The President is the spokesperson for the board, there’s no need for him to have been anything but invisible publicly. He’s a terrific person who loves the club deeply and shows genuine care for those in it, is extremely successful and intelligent and will always put the club above himself. His point of difference if that’s what people are looking for or perhaps a key focus is probably that he’s shown real care towards the VFL program and those in it, and has played a key role in helping many involved in the program both internally and away from the club. He’s a good person who’s good at what he does, every club could use more like him.

Well said Paul. Sometimes because we don’t know a particular Director, in this case Tim Roberts, we dismiss them without rational argument and cast them aside. This without any knowledge of the good work they may do. Good on you for standing up in this instance as a lack of profile can often count against these Directors and they can be needlessly and recklessly thrown out and we lose capability and necessary skills around the Boardroom table. I have never met Tim and don’t know anything about him. I’m glad you supported his tenure and I know any advocate we have for the VFL program at board level is noteworthy.

It’s an elected position. It doesn’t matter how many good deeds the candidate for election or re-election may perhaps have done, secretly or privately, unless he campaigns and tells us why we should vote for him, he can’t expect his good deeds to go unpunished.
