2023 FF Original Discussion Thread

Sigh. I am trying.

I will only take nominations via message. Please don’t nominate via the thread here. If it isn’t sent to me via message, it won’t be included.

Sorry buddy.
PM sent.

Was trying to skew votes to my advantage.
Won’t help much though. Farrell probably won’t play for another few weeks yet, so he’d probably get the ‘I don’t know’ response.

People can totally lobby in the thread

Nah think @topdon will get me easily this week. Lost another to LTI and a few players underperforming.

One qualifier for players: they must’ve played a minimum of 5 AFL games by the end of Rd 9

You can check how many games your players have played on Bench via squad performance or by ranking by position in coaches box

For anybody looking for suggestions for their squad, the AFL Fantasy changes are a good place to start - there are 2 they were cuckoo bananas for changing, but the rest at least had some degree of merit.

I’m still happy to provide suggestions to any teams that would like them.

I’ve never been a fan of mid-season position changes.
I’ve refused to vote on them the last few years, because
a) I’m not following every single player and I don’t know, and
b) I think you draft what you draft.

Having said that, I’ve never had a player so obviously not playing in position as WM.

I don’t want to be a ■■■■ about this.

Edit: I’m more than happy for him to continue the season as a pure mid.

Of them all, he’s the one most deserving of the positional change imo.

Ben Keays has not played anywhere but forward all season. Is a the forwardist forward ever.

Don’t know about that, he had 12 CBA’s against Collingwood, 13 vs Freo, 7 vs Port, 6 vs Tiges, 4 vs GWS.

He is seeing enough mid time for mine

I do keep the ‘percentage of times in the CBAs’ info if anyone wants.

For reference…
For Keays…

Player Club Pos Avg. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Ben Keays AD C,F 21 13 19 21 46 6 0 63 0

All Adelaide players…

Player Club Pos Avg. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Reilly O’Brien AD R 84 77 84 91 96 71 81 89 79

Taylor Walker AD F 0 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Edit…
Obviously…
He may be lining up on the wing, but I doubt it.

He was a mid last year.
He’s more forward than mid for mine this year.

But the thing is…probs the same thing has happened elsewhere that I have no idea about.
So how am I realistically supposed to vote for Keays but not someone equally as deserving?

I don’t like it.

I’d prefer it to come down to the commish, if it has to happen at all.

If it’s players in and out of the midfield, I can help with data.
When it gets to Bs or Fs, then I still have trouble picking them at times.
Even wings are tough to pick. There’s a few (like Jason Prior) who stick around as a CB for a while, then become a C. When I’ve never seen him play anywhere but C.

Personally…
I’d love to work out where Cam Mackenzie is playing.

Player Club Pos Avg. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Jai Newcombe HW C 69 71 71 52 50 88 88 59 72
Conor Nash HW C 66 26 46 74 61 68 85 85 79
James Worpel HW C 64 77 54 57 57 68 73 67 59
Ned Reeves HW R 64 55 38 61 61 64 92 85 52
Will Day HW B,C 62 26 62 65 82 63 72
Lloyd Meek HW R,F 44 45 58 39 39 36 48
Josh Ward HW C 31 26 38 35 39 36 26 14
Cam Mackenzie HW C,F 26 52 25 17 7 28 27
Max Ramsden HW R,F 15 15
Ned Long HW C 14 12 15
Max Lynch HW R 4 4
Connor Macdonald HW F 3 10 4 0 4 0 0 0
Dylan Moore HW F 2 0 0 0 0 0 15 0 0
Lachlan Bramble HW B 1 0 0 0 3
Karl Amon HW C 1 6 4 0 0 0 0 0 0
James Sicily HW B 1 6 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

But I’m not putting myself through the torture of watching a Hawks game…

I have no idea what any of that means.
Other than Worpel should be CB.

Will Minson?

FAs have been processed.

Best of luck to all the coaches.
I have no confidence that Nick Bryan will actually be selected ahead of Flip, but he may come in handy at some point as another option instead of the Reeves roller coaster ride.

@Trotters is the only coach with an LTI replacement still to use.

Appreciate it!

Apologies to the group, whilst I doubt anybody would’ve picked him up, I’d completely missed that the Dogs had signed James O’Donnell last month, so he hasn’t been appearing on the lists as an option.

He’ll be listed next week. Hopefully given he is debuting, he’ll also be available on Bench next week should anybody want him.

LOCKOUT - SPECIAL TIME: Given there are 2 Friday games, the lockout will be the 2nd game as some were caught out last season, when using the early game.

So 8.40pm AEST/11.40am UK/5.40am US CT will be the lockout.

I hope everybody enjoys their Mother’s Day weekend.

An inauspicious start to the round, another mid crippled.

Have the distinct feeling I’m about to get a spanking from @topdon and his donkeys
