Youâd think we elevate Jayden and use one pick with how tight list spots already are.
I feel like previous mid season drafts have been stronger, likely due to decent players sliding through the cracks during the covid years with less chance to show their wares as they matured from U16s.
Now usual scouting of local leagues/under-age comps have seen talent picked up as it usually would be, leaving the pool somewhat dry and less exciting

If youâre West Coast you take best available player. Theyâre not trying to salvage their season at this point. Theyâre trying to find talent for a rebuild.

List spots at the end of the year will be very tight. We need to stock up on elite talent.
One pick for mine, tall defender or emerging ruckman.
Wouldnât be surprised if they passed.
If you are Simpson, you are trying to save your job though.
If West Coast believe Simpson is the bloke to take them through these times and to a rebuild he will be afforded plenty of leeway

Theyâve 5 years of rebuilding before they get anywhere again. Does Simpson want to go through this process? More likely to end up at Bitchmond IMO.
Is Tom Hird worth another look? He was BOG last week, has built his body and is starting to look like a Hird. A 6 month contract would be a useful fill-in and chance to reassess his future potential.

Even if we wanted to, I donât think the rules allow us to draft him as we just delisted him prior to the last list finalisation.

We need a big key back more than anything, but one thing I do not want, is an 18yo tall âprojectâ needing physical development years. We have enough of them with Cox, Hayes & Reid. Neither do I want a âprojectâ ruckman. If we go for a small fwd, we need to re-assess our current stocks and make some calls. Iâd not do it. Nor do we need a mid-sized mid who would need to play anywhere else because we have too many of them.

Would be great if he got another go at AFL level, but his time with us was/is up.
What we need is another strong marking, hard running, tall and athletic KPF. However, they are either in short supply as in the draft cupboard is bare of such candidates, or someone else is most likely to draft such a player before we get a chance to. As a result we would need to identify more than one likely candidate, but l doubt there are that many available. Jack Fuller from Claremont at 199cm, could fit the bill, only 22 yo.

These kind of players (good ones) are either taken in the National Draft, or are young and need lots of developing - and we have a number of tall developing players on our list. I may be wrong. Is there a mid-20âs 198cm fwd who can take marks, good set shot and is hard-running that no one has noticed, available in the MSD?
Hard to believe Brodie Mihocek was just plugging away in the VFL for 4 or 5 years before being given a chance in the rookie draft. I dare say if there were mid season drafts back then someone would have given him a go. Youâd love to get someone of his quality and attitude. But I doubt it!
