2023 trade talk (Part 3)

Don’t think Bryan has much to worry about because in all likelihood Draper won’t get on the park in 2024.

It’s the beauty of Dodoro being on the way out. He has nothing to lose.

That money could be paid in a million different ways though, it’s not going to be evenly spread across players. So top 5% could be $800k or $900k depending on how next years contracts pan out.

The CBA is actually for the 2023 season and it’s backdated. The previous one technically expired last year…

That would still mean it will require a higher wage to trigger band 1 than last year.

Are they paying it to players for 2023, based on a % then? I didn’t see this part.

With very little research on my part I would assume they have to. This CBA just signed is for 2023.

The “actual” reason that their internet forums (and their main forum is BF) have convinced themselves. I have known a bunch of feral North supporters for 35 years. They never mentioned it until about 4 years ago.

I haven’t seen that anywhere, but fair enough.

Then he works his backside off to win the spot from him.

Too late for Hawks to come in and deal with North? Mckay has picked us so cant see Hawthorn wanting him now.

A deal will get done

■■■■ this is gonna be the new ‘we should’ve picked Oliver’ bullshit isn’t it, except you’re not being sarcastic

Both of those players eventually got traded for fairly worse offers than we made. Sure Dunkley has cost us given it didn’t get done initially but the Dogs were asking for a ridiculous price basically saying there’s no chance they will let him go. People will complain we didn’t pay up and then also complain when we did pay up and it didn’t work out (Shiel) FFS

And GWS didn’t want to give up Bobby Hill because Greene was suspended for 6 weeks and that would’ve left them with no quality small forward at all, ended up moving him for a worse deal than we offered a year later

There is a seriously hot market for key backs right now

If we can land McKay, Gresh & Goldy via FA … I’d be happy with this as a trade period outcome:

Shiel for pick 31 (Saints)

Zerk, 46 + Fut 2nd for Fut 1st (PAFC)

2023 Draft: 8, 27, 31
2024 Draft: 1st (ess), 1st (pafc), 3rd (Ess)

They will never hand this over in any kind of deal for Zerk. Future second would be enough.

Yeah Doedee is definitely not a proper key back. Although he is 190cm officially fwiw.

But he’s actually perfect for what they need. Their back 7 next year has a really good balance about it with him in there once fit.

Andrews
Payne

Doedee (3rd tall/interceptor. Upgrade on Lester)

Coleman
McKenna
Starcevich
Wilmot

But if he says “I’ll only play for Essendon”…he has to agree the trade, so the draft is a chance
