Goldstein attracted interest from Collingwood but has left North Melbourne to become a Bomber, where he will work closely with ruck pair Sam Draper and Nick Bryan.
Bryan signed on for two more years with the knowledge the Bombers were interested in Goldstein, with Draper’s groin surgery set to give the younger Bomber a chance to hold down the ruck position.
Because our high performance team have a history of letting our players back on the park before they have fully recovered (leading to further setbacks etc.) which would be in line with Oliver’s High Performance philosophy.
I think that’s a good approach. There is talk of PA turning their F1 into 2 second rounders to get Ratagolea and BZT, but that they’re having trouble finding a taker. We could short circuit that by taking their F! and giving something back.
If PA finish near the top again next year though, their F1 isn’t worth 2x early second rounders.
Points wise if we were to get their F1, we should give back something like our 3rd rounder to make the difference approx equal to a mid 20s pick.
The Dees have put any discussion of an Oliver trade on ice despite rumours of rival clubs sniffing out the speedy midfielder. This follows what some are describing as a dramatic exit interview where a cranky Clarry was told in no uncertain terms to keep his nose to the grindstone. Melbourne have been quick to water down speculation, with the official line being that he is a high-ly rated player.
