2024 FF Original Discussion Thread

Just the one score adjustment this week.
Neela had an empty spot to allow the Blake Howes score.

Ladder as per the below.

FAs are on Wednesday this week.

@saladin was just too good for my team. Congrats on the win an putting together a very competitive score despite being one short.

We’ve got off to a decent start, but have also lost 4 of our last 5 games. @Jefferson, @JBaller92 and @Allblack were too strong for us.

The kids are alright. From this draft crop Harley Reid, Jake Rogers, Sam Durham, Will Graham and Harvey Thomas are all exceeding expectations. It’s probably the first draft where I’ve felt like there are more hits than misses, and justifies trading some talent to get more picks in the early rounds.

On balance I’d have to say I’m happy with a 3-4 start. We’re 11th on the ladder, and also 11th for points scored (which is probably a better indicator). Sneaking into finals is a very outside possibility and would be a great bonus, but every decision is geared towards 2026 and beyond.

First loss of the year to @Crazy_Bomber and now a top of the table clash with @Blummers32 … coming into a tough part of the draw for me!

FAs processed.

Best of luck to all this round.

The sub is complete bollocks. Kennedy gets 20 minutes. That sort of thing kills you, and it undoes Daicos’ decent game.

I’ve switched my strategy somewhat around things like that happening.
Guys who play on the Thursday, Friday or Saturday stay as an emergencies especially if they are a chance to be subs. I’m more likely to pick up a surprise sub choice on the night games so I focus in on those.
Then if they perform well, I leave an empty spot (or a non selected player) on the field and take the score. Otherwise, if everything goes poorly, I just take the sub affected score.

It does put me at risk of playing short though if there is a late change to a game on Sunday and I can’t move players around to compensate for it.

To fill my full 18 I’m going to have to take McEntee’s 25. Not ideal. A shortage of midfield options is really hurting.

I’d be really happy if Cottrell could just find a way to stay involved in the game.
He scores 40 last night with 20 coming in the 1st, the late goal saved a horrific score

Another week, another early game injury. Becoming untenable to juggle the list atm.

I really thought I’d been responsible with my drafting.
I picked up a third ruck because I knew rucks were scarce.
But even though we went from six to seven mids, there was No way I thought I couldn’t pick up a playing free agent mid…even scoring 20, for a friggin’ month.

That’s bulltwang.

I’ve been meaning to drop Pickett for the last three weeks.
But he’s just remained on my list by the skin of his teeth every week.
It’ll either be him or Campbell next week though. An injury to a player who is a regular in my 18 would probably force me to drop Pedlar or Robertson.

I’ve lucked into having Bergman and Peatling add midfield position when I didn’t expect them to.

I’m a big fan of Peatling, fast, tough, and smart. He will become a good weapon

Drops Ralphsmith from the 18 to take Jones’ 71.
Ralphsmith on pace for a tonne.
Early days, but looks like that could hurt me.

Edit.…
Should be safe. Peatling score isn’t counted yet.

Had Finn all last year while he was just a tagger.

Drop him and he finds a fantasy game, thanks Sammy Mitchell

Well done @Allblack. Dunkley and Zorko were out of this world. I left 25 points on the bench but it wouldn’t have made a difference.

Cheers. I thought you had me. Ridiculous games from those two

Congrats @topdon .

The early Tom Green injury cost us a win. But we had other underperformers elsewhere too. Plus we guessed wrong about Elliot or Jones. A tough week, and now yet another key player injured.

Looks like all scores on AFL Fantasy are valid apart from the game between Smoten and I.
I have to add 115 to my score.

If there are no other issues, I’ll update everything on the website tomorrow around lunchtime.

Thanks mate. Tough luck.

I have been running on petrol fumes at the moment. Was bailed out by Brayshaw with Hughes not playing. Going to face some challenges is the next few week, not just with the tough run of game, but my defensive (mostly) and attacking issues. I expact Lav to lose his place to Reid or Ridley coming up, so will need Balta back. Probably another couple of FAs too. Anyway, lucky this week, but don’t expect to be as fortunate coming up.
