2024 FF Original Discussion Thread

Hoping so.
I don’t want to process them, so it’ll be either processed by someone else or handled on the website like the other comp.

I’d prefer to spend whatever time I have on bye rounds. But I doubt I’ll have the time to do them next year like I have this year.
Will wait until a fixture is released before working out what to do during those rounds.

There was an interview with the guy who runs AFL fantasy in a podcast with The Traders the other week. It was very informative. The key takeaway I took was that they have set themselves a target to ensure that in coming years the Draft Comps will be fully customised in line with what we used to have on Ultimate Footy. It doesn’t solve the bye round scoring issue. But it would allow better controls around free agents.

I think we kept FAs manual (even when we were on UF) because there was a preference to maximise the amount of talented players available to teams down the bottom of the ladder.

I’m not sure what other options are available with bye rounds.
We’ve simplified it more than previous years, but it’s still tedious and time consuming.

No idea why the hell geelong isn’t playing Conway, but I’m glad it’s the case tonight

Surely they could just bring a customizable option to allow any bye player score their average or last 10 games played or something. AFL fantasy has been 100 times better than The Bench, even just having their faces is a cool feature.

Lol.
Not my week, @Blummers32
I could have had ya, though.

The one point he did make was that they listen to feedback. So if we all do the end of season survey and ask for bye round averages as an option they may work towards it.

I’m not too worried about bye rounds as an average.

I’d really like the setup to be able to flip players around to get the scorer you want. So empty spots default to the emergency listed players. Also, the emergency listed players shouldn’t be locked to position, but should be locked to priority. So a Fwd/Mid can take the spot of any empty midfielder or forward.

I’d also like the score adjustments to be a bit more detailed and be player by player rather than overall team. I’d prefer to enter the bye score in for the player and have it counted in the progressive scores through the round. Otherwise, there’s just far too much that can go wrong.

I will fill out the survey. But not expect much change for another few years. The setup is the best going around, so it’s more important to get it right and allow the flexibility than to stuff it up.

No score adjustments from what I can tell.

Ladder as per the below.

Four more rounds until finals. Top 4 spots are still up for grabs.
Only 1 team outside the 8 can make finals.

FAs this week are on Thursday night.

FAs have been processed.

Notes below:

  • @JBaller92 just snags Saad. I had him after McAndrew who is next to useless for me given he’ll be my 4th ruckman on my list and he’s no hope of getting a game ahead of Grundy.
  • @Awesome_Scotty. It was unclear whether you wanted to take two or one player. Just confirm whether you want Zac Taylor or not.

Best of luck to all coaches this round.

I nearly switched spots with Saad and Harvey Johnston, thought better of it last minute

You missed mine, I think. Which, looking at subsequent picks, won’t effect anyone else.

Yep. Sorry. I missed that. Thought they were delistings.
You get Orazio Fantasia.

Lachie Neale with 88 in a half nails the door shut on my mob. The Bulls had several underperforming players this week.

Too good @Trotters

I thought when Dangerfield, Curnow and Fyfe went under 50 each, I wouldn’t be able to recover. Especially against the highest scoring team in the league!

But Neale, Heeney and even Webster have well and truly got the job done for me today.

Still expect @redbull to be in the grand final. Test one passed this week. Test two next week against who I think will be the other grand finalists.

124 points by my 4 players in the 3rd quarter of the Lions Crows game at least adds some respectability to my score.

Made up 49 points on the 4 players @Trotters has playing. Easy task to do it again and out score Neale, Laird, Daniher and McKenna by 40 points in the last quarter to get the win :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

No empty spots in team’s 18 so no changes to scores.
Let me know if I’ve missed any.

Ladder as per the below.

FAs have been processed:

Notes below:

  • Joe Fonti was wanted by 5 coaches.
  • @wimmera1 snags the midfielder. If it weren’t for his bid, Poulter would have fallen to my pick.
  • I’m hoping Luke Edwards gets some games now that Simpson is gone. I’m Luke warm on McNeil, but he could be a decent bench loophole. in hindsight, I wouldn’t have minded Ben Paton instead.

Best of luck to all coaches.

Was surprised to open blitz and see I had made no FA selection.

But to head to messages and see I’d never hit send, well, that pretty well sums up my week so far!
