Think you might be mistaking Will Phillips with someone else, but part of the appeal of drafting someone like Sharp is his value off the field. Absolute rolled gold for a rebuilding side in terms of demeanour, attack on the footy and leadership. His play at senior level put the man child allegations to bed for me.

I think Robey’s climb has a lot to do with the overall lack of “superstar” potential in the top end of the draft, I think that will see him taken in the top 10 especially as a lot of clubs have multiple picks. Is that fair?
I also think that if we lose Ridley you could make a decent argument for someone like Xav Taylor

I’d pair up Sharp with Schubert… but only if Draper leaves.
I havent seen his game from the weekend yet… and this is really the problem. Its a major risk given the lack of available footage of him playing the role that you’d be picking him to develop into.
But maybe the risk is worth it? That’s why they’re paying Rosa the big bucks.

Was on Robey and Koby watch today 
Robey backed up last week with an equally strong performance. I’ve fallen hard and fast but I’m taking him with one of our first picks (even more so if Draper compo is band 1). He’s a great mover, is powerful and explosive and has such clean hands. Oh, and he hits to hurt (and actually has a frame to hurt).
Young Koby had a different day. It was the first time I’ve seen him monstered by bigger bodies. The reality was that he just wasn’t near the physicality of the game today. Not a concern - he’s a long way back developmentally from these top age brutes. His kicking was still a sight to behold. I do hope he gets used mid-fwd next year. Half back seems to waste a lot of his natural ability to get free forward of centre. For a lot of today he was out of the play and he has work to do defensively. Close to half his disposals would have been kick outs.
I also have really warned to Xavier Taylor. If we have three picks in a row, he’s firming as one of them for me too. Great mover. Plays both ways. Aggressive and physical. Big ticks for me

Is Taylor a tall or more of a medium?
No Will Phillips was the same size he is now at u14s. He’s the classic looked good in jnrs becuase he had a mature body. Then at AFL level was average at best.

He’s a third tall that can go up and down in opponents size. He’s listed as 191cm but is good in the air and at ground level. Good ability to shut down but also to intercept and provide rebound. Really nice footballer.

I just don’t see how Sharp fits and I’m worried he just ends up rotting in the VFL like Tsatas.

Have you got a bit of a pick for your all risk potentially all reward player in the draft?
Clearly Sullivan Robey is the highest risk/reward pick by an absolute mile.

Yeah I can get that. I just feel he’s the genuine leadership pick of the draft and we need that more than pure talent.

I suspect if Tsatas could defend / offer the less noticeable stoppage craft that makes others better like Sharp does, he probably wouldn’t be rotting in the VFL. And while Sharp’s kicking is by no means elite, he has a lot more oomph and penetration that Tsatas does.
I think Sharp would be an amazing get for us given we’re not only rebuilding the list but also the playing culture.
My dream is Sharp, Taylor and Robey along with another pick in the teens to take one of Phillipou, NHH, BOB, Cumming or Farrow. Then the NGA boys.

Who’s spot does Sharp take in the middle?
He’s behind Merrett, Parish, Caldwell, Duz, Martin. Shiel is gone at least and Setterfield might not get a contract. Perhaps in front of Tsatas and Hobbs.
I thought I read somewhere that Sharp doesn’t have a high ceiling? Thoughts?
