2025 draft spec (Part 1)

We grab 11 from Blues and 18 from GC

Gives us 5,6,11,18

our descent into perpetual mediocrity lines up pretty well with you joining this forum

It’s a nice thought but we really dont have the currency to get both.

Trade some futures for Carltons 11

Not a great idea.

We are not in a position to be doing that, it’s important to retain pick flexibility for whatever we may want to do next year.

I love Pickett but I just don’t see him going that early and I’d hope we wouldn’t take him that early

We can always trade back in.

I think in 2026 we can start looking at bringing some talent in via FA probably one more draft i say.

Of course.

But there is always a cost. Trading your future picks is like buying on a credit card.

Eventually you have to pay the bill, and that can be very inconvenient.

Just listened to Gettable. Cal does not think any movement in those top 10 picks so I think he’s ruling out Melbourne or Carlton trying to get into the top 5-6 picks. Thinks all of Uwland, Patterson, Annable and Dean will get bid in the top 10. Does not think Dean will get past us. Thinks given who we have delisted and that Martin not available for most of next season we will go for midfielders; Sharp, Robey and Cumming all on our radar. No certainty we match bids on Sweid or El Achkar.

Every club says they draft ‘best available’, but every club drafts for needs first in my opinion, outside of a few picks that you can’t pass up each draft, it’s bullshit recruiter speak.

If Swied gets bid on inside 20 be happy to let him go

El Achkar hopefully we grab him as a cat b or if a bid comes outside 30 we match

So let Sweid go if he’s bid on inside the top 20 but you also want us to draft Pickett with pick 6…what’s the big raps on Pickett compared to why you’re not matching for Sweid inside 20? I’m very interested to know what is shaping your opinion here?

The approach used to be to draft ‘best available’ in the first round, or the pointier end of the first round, and draft for needs after that.

@THE_DON1 - is that still the case? Was it ever the case or am I just hallucinating/speaking shizen (always a possibility)?

We don’t have any indigenous talent?

I doubt he has seen any of them play and is unable to form his own opinion so just trots out the BS that the media buffoons and nimrods on BF say

So use pick 6 to get Indigenous talent but for other cultures won’t use a pick inside 20? Is that it?! If that’s your criteria and your prepared to use pick 6 then surely for you this is a fucken awesome draft then…

Rather Sam Cumming we need forward/mids
