Does he have the no regard for his own personal safety, that xavier has?
I’ve always felt that he was more like Xavier. Zane is smooth moving and has that coordinated talent/skill, but not as intense or combative as Xavier. Xavier and Willem crack in hard and a bit recklessly at times, but they don’t have Zane’s sublime skills.
If Willem can be a taller Xavier with higher footy IQ then he’ll be a prized recruit.
Willem might be the most athletic of the three.
that would be pretty ■■■■■■■ high IQ, i rate xaviers ability to block off avenues on the wing and to roll back defensively
Yep fair enough. I’m talking more about having that innate ability to find ball, know where you need to be and where to run to make yourself available to teammates, reacting quicker than everyone else to swoop on a loose footy… that kind of thing.
footy landscape doesn’t really talk about that, i’d put that as more footy instincts?
but im just a nuffie on a footy forum
instincts tho is why i’ll always have parish above tastas, parish in congestion just has the feel for the game, tsatas if he gets contact is to try and act for a free.
Aren’t we all?
I like that description, footy instincts is a good term
Fair enough. The taha one was just one example of many surrounding our nga players though. I think it’s nicer to say it’s going off stats than saying someone is a poor judge of talent.
If you work in another area i think it’s fair enough not to know much about the Essendon district and Calder guys, but it’s frustrating to see the same outlandish statements made to wind up our fans every year. I just think if these talent guys haven’t barely seen someone play or barely know anything about a player, other than what they read online, they should just say so, like you did above re. sweid when asked.
You and i actually had this conversation a few months ago and you agreed it happens, now you have backflipped. Have a read of the post in the nga thread and tell me that’s not bait to wind up the Essendon fanbase again .
Can we expect a round 1 CDT video, @noobermensch?
Looked like he had quite the opening round against Oakleigh. Not sure if he was directly matched up on Emmett for much of it or not, but if he was it looks like he took the chocolates in that battle.
Still waiting on footage for the rest of the weekend’s talent league games. In the meantime here’s some more of Sam Cumming:
A slightly quieter outing this week from Cumming but he still played a large role in helping his Roosters squad claim victory with his power around the contest combined with his ability to get forward and hit the scoreboard.
Yes for sure, as soon as I have the footage
Mate I’m not going to go back over an entire thread to figure out what you’re referring to. If there’s a post you want to bring to my attention then quote it for me.
In general I do agree that fans of all clubs not just ours get overly hyped for their club linked players. Its probably natural. I’ve already mentioned in this thread that I think Ed himself can get overly hyped for our club linked players at times. That wasn’t the point I was objecting to.
LOL, I thought the same thing.
What do we need…skilful players.
What does this draft lack…skilful players
A strong first outing for Onley here, best on for his Bushrangers team in a losing effort. His size, power and clean hands at stoppage proved extremely difficult for Gippsland to handle as Onley won a stack of clearances and helped initiate forward moves. His aerial prowess and reading of the play are a real weapon. The major concern for Onley is his disposal by foot, which wasn’t great again here but he gets a pass due to the wild and windy conditions.
In the marquee matchup of the weekend, Cooper Duff-Tytler got the better of Louis Emmett and played a huge role in helping his Cannons team get up on the day. He didn’t always have his own way in the hitout battle, but his follow up work at ground level and on the spread was elite for a 200cm lad. Given his relatively recent full time commitment to footy we might only be scratching the surface of what he’s capable of.
Don’t think blitz would survive another top 10 clearance machine that can’t kick
Its funny, Onley was pretty bad last year but his kicking mechanics look pretty solid to me, so I’m hoping with a bit of work over the preseason he’ll have been able to improve things and become at least solid.
@noobermensch i know your probably working in it but a video on Adam Sweid would be great. Great work mate
I know such comments are speculation but is there anything that offers insight as to the strength and depth of this draft?
I think you’re better off waiting until we get to the champs. Players emerge in their top age year… one of the reasons why last year became so deep was that players kept on emerging over the first couple of months.
You can see a tiny bit of sweid in the duff tytler video he’s number 23. What’s interesting is though, el achkar appears to be playing forward most of the game, which might be a directive from the EFC to develop him there, as that’s where they see a place for him at AFL level. It doesn’t make much sense to have arguably your best onballer and vice captain stuck down in a forward pocket otherwise.
