2025 draft spec

If we do say allow Draper to leave for another 1st rounder and our strategy is to hit the draft with multiple picks this guy would be high on my list of wants. He’s a big unit who isn’t afraid to use his size. Him and Caddy in our forward line with Kako, El Achkar and/or Sweid roving would be pretty good.

Why throw away a proven and continually developing AFL talent to roll the dice again on our drafting and development?

Because you can get a free top 10 pick and he plays a position you can easily find replacements for. It’s good list management.

I think he stays, though.

This is one option open to us so remains a possibility; whether you wish it to happen or not is neither here nor there!

Just get Reid and the NGA boyz please…

A Caddy/Duursma pairing has me equally excited as getting Reid in.

Either way I’d be very optimistic going forwards

Another excellent performance from CDT as he continues his hot form to start the new Talent League season. He was more effective in the hitouts this week, regularly setting up his small brigade to break from stoppage, as well as showing his typical fantastic ground level follow up work himself. It was encouraging to see him anticipating the play and taking a few intercept marks which was one area for improvement in his game. He sat out the last 10 mins of the game with his team well on top, otherwise his stats would have been even more impressive.

Good shout, though I think Walter’s movement skills are/were better.

Hey @noobermensch, hope you are well.

Wanted to get your thoughts on Gilchrist from Eastern Ranges. I know he was highly rated as an U/16 but it seems he hasn’t grown much since then and is no longer a key position forward.

Noticed he won a bit of ball in round one and kicked 3 goals today.

What do you think of him and what sort of player do you see him as?

I’ll admit that I haven’t really paid attention to him yet. Seems as though he barely played talent league at all last season. I’ll be processing through the Eastern Sandy game this week to do Greeves among others so I’ll keep an eye out for him.

A slightly slower start to the season for Emmett although this game was more impressive than his modest stats would suggest as Emmett sat out the entirety of the fourth quarter with Oakleigh dominating the game. Emmett showed his natural forward craft, finding space and presenting into the right areas for his teammates. He took some impressive contested marks, and could have had more if it wasn’t for his teammates spoiling him and a dodgy umpiring decision on the near wing. It feels like it’s only a matter of time before Louis has a huge game to remind everyone of his talent.

If somehow Dees or us finish last it may become a scenario where.

We either draft Curtin and fill our Key forward hole or Eagles want Curtin so badly they are motivated to move Reid on to get the pick, especially if he wants out.

If Melbourne finish below WCE then something diabolical has happened. Dees are still competitive despite probably finishing bottom 6ish.

We should beat Melbourne and then lose to WC.

Emmett & CDT are really interesting prospects given rucks generally don’t go early these days, yet they’re both rated very highly.

At this stage, who do you think is the stronger forward of the two?

Its not even close really to my eye. Emmett is a key forward, has the craft and aerial prowess to impact consistently down there. You watch Emmett and he’s always leading up at the ball carrier or he’s in the right place at the right time to contest. I think he’s more of a forward than a ruck myself.

CDT isn’t a forward at this stage. He doesn’t play down there a lot and when he does he tends to find the ball on the ground as a crumber, he doesnt seem to naturally understand how he’s supposed to move to draw the ball or where he’s supposed to go to be in the right spot to contest dump kicks down the line.

Interesting, cheers!

I don’t want it to sound like I’m knocking CDT by the way. Its just that I think he’s a ruck in the mould of a Grundy or English. He’s a fantastic talent, I just haven’t seen much to suggest that he’ll be able to impact in other roles yet.

Josh Lindsay put together another solid performance for the Falcons although his role in game continues to be a watch. Like last week he started in the middle and struggled both to impact at stoppage and find the time and space to maximise his lazer of a left boot. He was moved to his more customary half back role in the second half and started to dictate play with some superb playmaking including one elite dart into the corridor that led to a goal for his team. But just when we thought that the move onball might have been abandoned after only a game and half, Lindsay was back on ball for the final 10 minutes of the game.
