2025 draft spec

There is a lot of chaff to toss out, Chris

BOB’s performance on the weekend seems to be flying under the radar a little with his name missing from the lists of SA’s best. He’s a talented kid who’s been struggling to find his best form since an injury delayed start to the season, but there were some excellent signs here. At his best he can cut through congestion with a burst of speed and break lines with his excellent disposal by foot and we started to see a lot more of that come to the fore in this game. After failing to get a touch through the first 20 mins he started to find a lot more of the footy as the game progressed, hopefully signaling that this is just the start of bigger things to come.

BOB is the one that I think we should be tracking.

In the scenario where we stick with Tsatas and Hobbs for one more year, which probably has the knock on effect of us not investing one of our first rounders on a pure midfielder, then I’d love for us to look at BOB with one of our two second rounders. Less of an investment, but he’s still a really talented kid and has the kicking skills that we lack through the middle at times.

Would you have Hallett around the same mark?

Curious where you’d rate Xavier Lindsay if he was in this draft, he’s who we could’ve drafted had Kako not existed.

Hallett I think is a lot more raw, less exposed, so a much riskier proposition. He’s the type of guy I think you take later on potential.

BOB is a different proposition. He was very good two years ago at the U16 Champs and excellent last year in the SANFL u18s as a bottom ager, came into this year with a serious pedigree. His poor start to the year coming off his shoulder injury which had him miss the early rounds has seen him slip back a bit, but if he gets it going again he’s going to bolt up pretty quickly.

He’d be in the mix somewhere in the top 10 I imagine.

Any Paradians worth drafting this year?

Only 2 of the NGA tied players in the top 10. Good to see Harley Barker get his flowers too. I’ve been impressed with him on limited vision.

I like the idea of targeting the “lesser” names from successful teams and it’s pretty obvious the SA boys are gonna be quite successful.

Take 2 of Lindsay, NHH and Rodriguez = profit.

Aidan Schubert plays like Riley Thilthorpe, Umm I want a Riley Thilthorpe

Draper goes, get band 1 and we can take your 2 boys and the Thilthorpe clone

That’s spreading a fair bit of mayo on Schubert I feel.

You shouldn’t take those comparisons too literally.

Plays like him in that he’s a tall and strong key forward who can pinch hit in the ruck and has pretty clean hands in a marking contest. Schubert’s main issue has been his kicking, has an awkward and slow action. Pretty solid set shot converter, but the kicking action hurts him more around the ground. Thilthorpe is an elite field kick.

Why not take all three?

I was being a little silly calling him a clone

Love me some Thilly, what a player he’s become.

The good old Crows tank. They targeted him from a way out
